  • Townsville Tracks

    Hi All,

So i have had my new 150 GXL less than a week (drove back from Brisbane over the weekend, great way to get used to the new toy) and i want to go get it muddy/ sandy etc!

I have been in Townsville for just over 12 months and as such don't really know of any good spots for 4x4ing, weekend camping get aways etc

Any insight from the locals on where to go and places to avoid would be greatly appreciated!

    Cheers

Mate I can't really help you with local tracks but if you jump on to 4x4playfnq forum there are quite a few guys from Townsville on there. Nice group of blokes and always happy to add to the ranks.

    Cheers,
    Dusty

Delbeg. Great range or 4wdriving and can be testing, camping on the Burdekin river
Cungulla for Easy beach driving, camping
Ollera Mud holes, water, beach, camping
Top of forestry road at Bluewater overgrown and can be very difficult, expect panel damage if you go in to far! I've rode in about 30km from the top of the hill where there is a shelter and it get's pretty hard going!
Mt Louisa full range of short tracks go in just beside the Bohle fire station.
End of Bowhunters road: lots of tracks through the bush
At all the above tracks watch for other people on bikes and in cars alot go way to hard on them and seem to be asking for trouble.
      Have fun!

Yeah Ollera is good fun. If you follow the entrance track straight ahead all the way, you come out onto the beach, with some beautiful camp sites all around. There's some good tracks through there, just be very careful if you veer off the dirt... You will sink & become very stuck!!! Also be wary of mud holes. I've seen one where you would just see the roof of the truck...

There's also some good tracks in around the bohle.
