  • Bat wing awning V Foxwing awning

Looking for an awning and there are a lot of the Bat Wing awnings going on ebay at the moment. Searching the internet and there are few comments about this item and no real pictures to get an idea as to are they any good or are they cheap and nasty. I am now thinking of the Foxwing, but they are almost twice the price at about $750. Just wondering if anyone has seen the two or can provide any real information on the bat wing.

I expect the Foxwing awning would be a relatively good product as the local 4wd shop owner has one fitted to his own car. I like the Ostrich Wing awning, but I can’t realistically get one in the time available to me or for the money available.

    Hey mate,
I have a new one coming out in the next few weeks, I think i will call it the Red Dog Offroad dog leg awning, sounds cool hey, haha

I have used the chinese copies for a while now as I could not justify the cost of the foxwing or supapeg and it has been great, no dramas at all. checkout this link for details http://www.4wdsupplies.com.au/red-do...d-wing-awning/

The new price will be $400 + postage for forum members.

Looks like a possibility but I will need more information before I spend that much money. The main thing I like about the Foxwing and the Ostrich Wing awning is the “A” frame style connection that makes setup so much easier as you don’t need to support it during this setup process unless there is a lot of wind. Some good photos would assist, especially showing the pole connection to the vehicle.

Does this unit have those supports?

They are due to arrive in a couple of weeks so I will wait to get them and put up a photo of exactly what you would be getting.

I like the idea of this style of awning that shades the side and the rear of the car
And the price looks alright too Can't wait to see the actual product and the quality of the materials
          Cheers

I got the Sugar Glider wing from Tigerz11 while they were cheap. I think they are the same item as the diagrams look identical.

            The pluses -
            Price.
The hinge goes through the aluminium holder top and bottom. so seems fairly solid.
            Very quick to deploy.

            The minus -
Its very tight to pack away. it needs to fit inside the extruded aluminium case (C shaped) .Probably takes 6-7 min.

Overall good value for money if you cant afford the real thing. (Like me)
