  • RFI CDQ5000 antenna

I'm leaning towards this antenna and was wondering if anyone has any experience with it.
I've been told it has a good track record standing up against the vibrations of the diesel engine??
    Cheers, Leon

I have the equivalent in the RFI GSM/NextG antenna range and its a quality piece of kit, mine is mounted on the top of the TJM bar and worked like a charm all through the cape trip this year and out to Currawinya earlier at Easter, I don't get alot of vibration through mine but I think that is related to the TJM bar and how it mounts.

If you want the ultimate UHF antenna go the Bushcomm UHF Stinger.

Also interested to hear about this antenna.

My RFI CD900 lost it's stainless whip section last trip, somewhere near Camerons Corner.

Since I bought the CD900, I notice Prestige Comm now has a warning: "** Not recommended for diesel vehicles with excessive bullbar vibration **"

          meh.

Good aerials, that's what we have. The Q one is the screw off one.

I've had an RFI CD5000 for the last 6 years (before the CDQ range was available). I've had experience with the range of RFI antenna's and the are great quality. I'm going to replace my CD5000 with a CDQ5000 so that I have to option of screwing the antenna off.

Sounds great. Prestige Comms didn't recommend my last aerial (which was on a petrol) to go on a diesel but I was very happy with the units performance.

Arrived. Looks the goods, very solid.

And no, not compatible with the CD900 base.

Just waiting for my next round of funds to free up and I'll be ordering one.

Icom 440N and the CDQ5000... should be a reasonable combination.

I was surprised that the Icom 'mic control' unit was cheaper than the GME 'mic control' unit

Just don't let it get smashed by trees. Mine got cracked and split right along the entire length. It annoyed me waving around in the breeze at speed though. I don't think the spring was strong enough.

I've been running the CD900 for years now on both petrol and diesel vehicles. It has been a great antenna, while waiting for my new 150 I have ordered one plus an Icom 440N. Been a GME man my whole life, however seen and used the newer ones in the flesh and they look/feel cheap.
