I had no complaints with my 2011 150 Prado on my recent "hay river" trip......except one. The radio is totally useless. Outside of a town.....no radio. Even where i live in the sunshine coast i can lose reception. Any member here, done something with their radio's to give them better reception. Would appreciate some input, thank you.

An external antenna is probably the only thing that will solve your problems. The reception on my 120 is crap too, made worse after putting a metallic tint on the window with the embedded radio.
When I did my Hay River trip last year theere was a Pajero in the group with an aftermarket external antenna and he was picking up AM radio right through the desert.White 2008 Prado GX D4D Auto w/ Option Pack 2 + a few additions...

If they put window to tinting on that was the wrong type it will destroy reception. I have not had an issue with reception but that is on FM. I have never tried AM.

Radio in the 150 is the best I've ever had in any car. Good reception both am and fm. I was recently on the sunshine coast and had great reception all over the coast on am and fm.
If receptions bad in a 150 there are only really a couple of causes.
- Most likely...someone's put metal film tint on the side rear windows where the antennas are. That will absolutely kill reception. A good indication of this is if AM reception is particularly bad or non existant, AM gets affected more than FM.
- Antenna wires disconnected or damaged.
- Not sure if this next one applies but a number of cars have a small antenna amp near the antennas, these sometimes fail. But I'm not sure if Prados use amps.2012 Kakadu
