That's a part of their business model, and that is to sell information about you to other companies, yes a third party. It's a part of their revenue stream and everything you do on Facebook is a movement. I don't trust them and nor should you. I forgot about the hyperlinks. A good example of this is where families have lost a child, that is a child has died, and while they were communicating on Facebook some sickos find out and throw them a link on all the ways to kill children. The FBI in America has warned Facebook about this practise about two yeras ago now. They still haven't done anything about this situation.
You are simple not save on Facebook, and either is any of your information. You have to remember that they are a public company now. So the pressure is on to get that organic growth up there so watch out I reckon. Their shares have fallen sharply as well, so just something else to consider, as they will be trying to get that back up again, so at what cost to you, do you think this will be.
    Room for thought, fellow members.
    The Roo.
    The Roo,
Can totally agree with your comments, but trolling happens weather its on Facebook or forums like PP too. Regarding information used by others, you can limit many options that use private information and keep your profile, photos, access by other users to a minimum. People worried about identity theft or unwanted attention can open accounts with avatar names/ alias and only send out invitations and accept requests from trusted sources. Ive used Facebook for years and have had no adverse problems. Its mainly used to bring all my friends and family together from all over the country and the world to keep in touch and up to date with everything thats going on. This is particularly important for me as I work away allot and is very hard to coordinate having a life outside of work when everyone else is also so busy.

Either way I think the Facebook option is another great tool to help promote the site and introduce the content to others that may be pro FB rather than committed to a forum. Moderators that run the page can control its content and offensive posts can be reported just like here. Either way I hope that the new Facebook page adds a positive spin off to the forum members.

    Cheers

Being careful with your information anywhere online is crucial, not just on Facebook. At least you can choose what information you share and with who. Date of birth is one of those things you shouldn't put up if you are worried about identity theft.........

Like Dueler, I find FB really useful to keep family & friends up to date with what I've been up to, recent pic's etc

I just let this random bloke called Matt in as a friend, not sure how he got under my guard.....

So who cares if ads are targetted. You have to put up with them anyway so they might as well be relevant. Keeps me in the picture with rellos from around the world whereas before FB and the internet I didn't know who was who at the zoo.

Thanks to those who put the page together. My daughter was absolutely thrilled to see her photograph make the page.

So the page is going great at the moment! (The new page). We are catching up and will soon overtake the old page in likes, then we can merge the two together.
I am getting a lot of new people there that aren't aware of the web page, I always point them in the right direction. Also I get a lot of technical questions through private messages, and I lead them onto the page. Hopefully you guys have noticed a spike in memberships..
It's a great place to just share some photos, have a chat, maybe put up items for sale..
I hope all you guys are enjoying it. I spend a lot of time on there trying to boost its fan base and share everyone's photos.
                        Thanks, Josh

Well the old and new pages are even on likes at the moment, with help from Josh Prucha and Troy Mesinga we have managed to get the page to 350+ likes. We will overtake the old page, and I want to merge the pages to create just 1. I need someone that is an admin of the old page to make me admin so I can merge them. I hope someone can help me out here.
I hope you are all enjoying it.
                                Cheers, Josh
