Was keen to go but the Mrs was also keen to have a quiet weekend doing bugger all instead of driving a few hours to Sydeny and back for the 3rd weekend in a row

Like so many i drove a couple of hrs to get there on Friday morning only to be turned around at the gate. I understand the reason from a legal perspective but i thought Friday would be the right kind of day to see how any number of products stood up to the weather. I saw lots of tents blown over and i would like to know which tents they were so i know what not to buy. As it is i am not sure if i will head back down on Sunday or not.

Can anybody tell me if the 'Show Specials' are worth it or not? otherwise i will just try to talk a dealer down in his shop some ordinary day of the week.

My Wife's future shopping list includes in order a Winch (Most likely a Tigerz), Bash Plates, Rear Bar, Dual Battery setup and a 60l Fridge. And the list gets longer each time we talk about the car.

I don't think it was the tents that we buy for camping that was the problem, but talking to stall holders it was more the tents that some exhibitors use that where blowing around. As for show specials ,i guess there where a few ,from the new kids on the block,tigerz11,Roo systems etc, ARB had there usual so called discounts. I recently went to Agquip and an ARB open day found the goodies i got at these where cheaper than what i seen them for today. But in saying that ,what ever you buy out there i sure it will be cheaper than the in store retail price.

Thanks Rags. I am sure that the tents i saw from the road that were blown over looked like camping tents not vendor tents but maybe i'm wrong. I might just wait until an ARB open day for a couple of things and Maitland camping show next year for some other stuff as that is normally pretty well stocked as well. Also it is a lot closer to home for me.

From my perspective, the best deal I did not buy (because I already have one) was ARB 47l fridge for $1000.00.
Was a good day though and worthwhile looking here and there ...
Although it was only 11 degrees when I started in the morning, it became a surprisingly hot day.

Apparently there were winches at a great price, starting from $400... for some reason people keep telling me I should buy one?? *shrugs*

As for the wind on Friday... I spoke with a friend/exhibitor who was there on the day. He said the rain was so heavy they sat in their display cars. Apparently when the tents started flying, a pole flew and smashed through a car window. It was cancelled shortly after.

A much better show than the Penrith attempt and I also think probably better than the Rosehill show as well.

Good show at at Eastern Creek but I think last year's show was better though.

Personally I was less than impressed when I went Sunday. Firstly had to park in the far back paddock which made for a really lengthy walk just to get to the vendors. Stuff buying anything even if small! As big as Eastern Creek is and have to park that far away is just poor poor planning.
Last year they had some buses setup that worked well....not this year. I will not be going again

Lastly as far as show specials I didn't see anything that jumped out at me except maybe I think the Tigerz11 tent which had some phenomenally cheap stuff.

Good thing about Penrith is you step out and you are there....and it's free! As they should be!

Rosehill and Penrith are a bit more geared to the caravans but there were as many if not more tents to see at Rosehill.

All that said I did "loose" some money at MSA and also picked up an Icom IC41w

I had a funny thing happen to me on the way back to my car. When I got 3/4 of the way to the back of the paddock, I could not easily find my car, problem was that there were about half dozen other white Prado's in the same vicinity as mine. Eventually recognised it by the rear spoiler, as it was the only one with a spoiler.
