  • Help, Computer gumby

Guys, i finally intsalled my wireless router today and was enjoying surfing the net upstairs with the family instead of been stuck in the study. However when i log onto prado point on the laptop and click on "veiw posts since last visit" it is going back to a post earlier today like the it is stuck on that time. If i log off the time is correct as soon as i log on and hit veiw posts.... the current time goes back to the earlier time when i was on their this afternoon. it is doing my head in????

    Hi Gumby

Hit refresh and see if it changes. Sounds like its viewing a cached copy.

You may have to get into the setting and tell it to load a fresh copy of PP each time rather than caching.

    My guess

    Cheers

The other thing is what browser are you using on the laptop?

If using IE, make sure under TOOLS, INTERNET OPTIONS, BROWSING HISTORY, SETTINGS that it is set to automatic. If it is try "every time I visit the web page".

      Cheers
      I hope this helps.

          Hi Hutch

As Richard was saying ... the settings are here.

Try setting it to refresh the page every visit. You'll need to shut IE down and restart it for this change to take effect.

The other thing you can do is to delete all of the temporary internet files ... and force it to go looking for a refreshed page.

Try it .. and let me know how you go before I go looking again.

          Cheers

Aaahhh ... the dreaded Nortons ! Its amazing how many seemingly unrelated things Nortons can mess with. We refuse to run it at work for that reason. Unless you're really familiar with what bits to turn off it can make life pretty painful.

Good to hear you're up and running again.

                          Cheers

yes I found Nortons to be nothing but trouble and 70 virus' later gave it the boot. Now I run with PC-Cillin. It's apparently made bythe same company but I think it works better and is easier to use. A lot of IT people recommend AVG free, (it's a freeware anti virus) tried it didn't really like it but know others that swear by it.

That's interesting as this is the first issue with Norton in Five years, anyhow all good now.
