  • 4X4 Driver Training course Brisbane

Interested to hear if anyone has done one in the brisbane region? As part of my prep for our trip around Oz I want to do something like this, ideally something that includes a bit of bush repair, common troubleshooting knowledge??

I like the look of :

    http://www.brishint4wd.com.au/training.html

I have googled and found a bunch, but would love to hear from anyone who's done one.

Alternatively, I might have missed it, but are there any planned brisbane based PP's GTG's coming up? would love to meet some like minded PP's

I did both a bush and sand course with Brisbane Hinterland back in 2008.Would highly recommend them assuming the quality of the instructors hadn't changed

P7 off road has a very.good reputation also

I did the bush course with the above - Derrick ran it as Bob had been crook. I recommend doing it as this is my first 4wd and it gave me confidence in my machine and driving skills.
I also did a sand course and in hindsight probably not as necessary - you are better off heading up to Bribie (with another more expereinced vehicle) and spend some time playing around in the sand there.
I get up to Bribie abit and there is always plenty of people around.

I've been considering doing one myself but so far, I like the idea of joining the landcruiser club of queensland. tlccqld.com.au

They offer driver training courses for $260 which go over several days so probably cover quite a bit. Add in another $200 or so for initial membership and it still comes out roughly the same as the advanced driver training courses, plus you get extra people to go 4wding with for good experience. Are there any other PP'ers who are members and can comment on the driver training courses?

If you are using a club and going to do their Driver Awareness Course make sure they are delivering the course as outlined by the 4WD association ie http://www.4wdqld.com.au/training.html or at least ask them what is covered over the weekend

As you pointed out some do a full weekend course (basic/intro) and show you heaps, others show you snatch strap use and not much more

Their website says they use 4wdqld accredited instructors. I'm going to try to go along to their next meeting and find out more. I'll keep you posted.
