120 v6 Chip

Tried searching, but no joy. Maybe I'm not looking / searching the right areas

Has anyone fitted a uni-chip or similar to their 120 v6?? If so, was there any or much improvement??

I was quoted $1550 - $1650, supplied, fitted and dyno tuned

in my opinion , my healthy '05, 120 v6 ,stock ,with ,different plugs, K&n, and 98 octane fuel needs no chip.......

try to stay stock the v6 !gr-fe is the ducks guts.....it real is the rest that lets it down...\

fair call, but ,

"Ok here is the dyno results... picked up more Kw than they thought, and about another 20Nm of torque.... definately notice the difference off the line which is where I wanted it. I'd say it drives like a stock prado again (i.e without bigger tyres and all the other weight)."

as per double D69.... is chipping the rig worth it when the 1gr-fe doesnt need it... he did alot of mod's b4 he chipped it and what is his rig used for... i believe the 120 V6 is a thirsty rig but suited to it s stock drive line ,,,. . the rest is more important the ,, or buy a " camry ", food for thought , cheers butane

I already have K&N filter, exhaust and extractors. Just chasing more torque (toying on the idea of a 100 series)

Yes I have an auto, 4 spd. Why do you ask??

1tuff4b... I had a Uni Chip put in my 2008 V6 auto almost two years back... followed up with a set of Pacemaker extractors and re-dyno about 12 months back. I use my Prado 95% for towing a 2200kg tandem axle caravan, with all towing in 4th gear (except when a good tail wind or long downhill stretch). I use less fuel towing in 4th and the engine and transmission run cooler (from Scangauge readout). I have ample power to spare sitting just under 100kph (95kph GPS speed), and fuel burn rate averages between 20 and 17 litres per 100 km. The vehicle is very tractable and responsive and I truly believe these mods do provide noticeable power and torque increase over stock (we all think we can feel the difference don't we) ... From memory I think the dyno numbers were around +7%. Using the Prado mainly as a tow vehicle (it only does about 7-10,000km a year), and planning on keeping it for quite a while, I think I will get my money's worth.

Thanks for your feedback Greg. I pull a Jayco swan outback and have 4 kids in tow.

I think outlaying the $$ may be worth it and is definitely a darn site cheaper than trading to a 4.2 1hdtfe . A supercharger would be nice, but I don't think the minister would allow that one.

Anyone else have any feedback?

I will have some feedback after next Wednesday when I get the unichip fitted. Got the pacemakers and k&n and the snorkel and run vortex 98 religiously. Hanging for results. Will be driving back to Camden through peak hour traffic

Does anyone have an update on the use of chips?
Will be booking in my 2006 for extractors shortly, and will get a high flow filter for use on bitumen roads. Still like the idea of a chip, the bogan in me says "just shut up and do it"
