  • Install Cruise Control as add-on accessory on Prado 150 (2010) TXL in Africa

    Gentlemen,

Hi to all from Burkina Faso (West Africa)... a first time posting from my side... and happy to see that there is a place dedicated for Prado owners.

    I have a 2010 TXL Prado A/T (frame KDJ150, engine 1KDFTV) without cruise control.
In line with threat http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...d-on-accessory I would like to know whether and how I could install a Cruise Control?

Would the installation for the Prado 120 with the following spares work for my Prado 150?
    - wire (84633-34010)
    - cruise switch (84632-34011) and
    - 2 screws (90159-50199).

If no, which aftermarket cruise control kits would be best? A OEM cruise control set has my preference.

Looking forward to your expert advise... highly appreciated!

    Thanks a lot,

    Willem

Too complicated and technical if not impossible. you might also want to source the standard 150 series cruise control system rather than retro fitting one from 120. i assume cruiser control unit does something to do with ecu and other series specific electrics in someways which will likely to result in more headache if not incompatibility issues.
PS: i have seen a guy trying to retrofit 2004 Murano cruise control to 2007 model year murano (they are same model spec) required aloooot of work for little gain so he gave up (he ended up having more electric problems in his car since then)
hope this answers your question and welcome to the forum. myself is new here as well.

Thx... after checking on http://www.toyodiy.com and introducing my VIN the following comes out: 09/2009 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER PRADO (KDJ150L-GKAEYV), GCC LHD 1KDFTV ATM 5FC 5D. And as such the codes come out as original OEM numbers for the 150 (my version) so it should theoretically be ok, also in line with ECU - as you say the standard 150 series cruise control. Maybe I should double check it with a Toyota dealer!

aftermarket cruise would be the easiest to fit. With the fly by wire you will have to connect the servo unit to the pedal, it is achievable.
look into cruisemaster systems we have used them in the past.
        here is a sample

Did you succeed in installing CC to your Prado 150?

I would like to know whether you have succeeded as well, the dealer does not order the SWB with cruise here, even though the car has everything else as standard stupid people ordering when they feel is necessary with no second thought as to what the customer wants!!!!

I have done it to my 120. Such a simple and cheap process to fit genuine cruise I would never consider aftermarket.
Being fly by wire throttle, cruise is controlled by the ECU, so everything is already there except for the control stalk (and clutch switch if it's a manual).
Order through amayama.com once you know genuine part numbers. You can use http://www.japan-parts.eu to look up part numbers.

I just did it to my 2.7 prado, need the switch, one wire to ecm and the other to ground, I downloaded wiring diagrams if you need it.

madmax 1982: Can you please send me the wiring diagram, for some reason I am unable to send private messages...... Everyone is talking about connecting the wire from the Cruise Control stalk to the ECM, do you insert pins into empty slots, and if so, which ones? You would be a life saver if you can post the wiring diagram. Cheers.

Well, you need a special pin connector to be inserted on the connector that is atached to ecm. I bought a connector and used it. That because I only buy the stalk, the complete kit came with everything you need.

Wich engine and year do you have? Auto or manual? Mine has a spiral cable (steering wheel) with all connectors needed, I know some models doesnt have all connectors, so, in that case, you will need to replace it too. If need more help you can send me an email.
