22'' Lightbar......
From reading that...... it would seem more to do the torque settings and being overtightening rather than a injector problem itself. In the end, u do get new injectors so its a good start. Maybe its their way of not admitting that theres a injector problem but they will replace due to the chance of the pipes being overtightening.....
One would have thought that all of the D4D engines came off the assembly line together and were then allocated to the individual Prado, Hilux and HiAce production lines. Obviously this is not the case as they are only concerned with the HiAce. Sounds a little strange to me.

Bugger Bali, get out and see Australia before we sell it all to China.
Read the line - 'Not all vehicles with the above VIN were sold in Australia'.
I take that as - 'We have had our arses sued overseas so we better make it look like we are doing the right thing in Australia.'
Also, can the over torqing of the injector pipe cause the injector to become cracked? Are the injectors plastic?
Can one of our mechanics offer a technical opinion on this please?
It may be fair to say that the injector pipes for the hiace could possibly be different to the prados.
Each model of vehicle has its unique caracteristics... if so the hiace pipes would have been installed on a different production line to the prado, by that I mean the line or workstation over from the prados. A fault in the equipment on that line / workstation may be the reason for this recall.
Or lastly, this recall is purely based around the faulty injector seals that seem to frequent the D4D engines.
I seem to think that if the issue was with the injector pipes, then the injector pipes is what they would replace.
This recall is the change out the complete injector set.
I'm surprised this hasn't generated more interest..
So it seems TMC will be replacing the "Injector kit" in the hiace as part of this recall - Anyone know what is actually swapped out?
I wonder what the ratio of hiace diesel vans to diesel prados is, and whether we will see the same recall in due time in diesel prados?

I think the interest is certainly there the thread has 218 views already and is only 1 day old, just not many comments as most are probably waiting for the other shoe to drop (or away enjoying the weekend). I for one will be keeping an eye out to see what comes next...
I shall watch this post with great interest. At the end of the day, everything comes down to dollars and cents.Toyota will do only what it feels it needs to, to satisfy each individual market. Thank God for the internet, where there are no boarders, and news travels at warp factor 10.
I don't think all the engines are completed in Japan. I think the block and bottom end may be assembled in Japan but the installation of accessories, injection, etc could be performed in other countries. The Hilux is made in Thailand and I have seen the "Made in Thailand" stickers on various components in the 2012 Hilux like we have at work. Maybe the HiAce production line is where the problem has been identified.

Prado ... first line fracture at 10,000 klm's - now another at 140,000 klm's.
Fracture occurs at injector end, diesel sprayed everywhere..... what a fire hazard with all the ignition points under the bonnet.
Contacted Toyota re this and the Hiace recall..... answer was basically "haven't had any reports from the dealer network". Toyota appear not interested if repairs/failures of any nature carried out by workshops other than Toyota Dealerships.
At $350 a pipe to replace !!!!!!!!!!........... maybe there is an issue with wall thickness or material spec.
Anyone else out there had any issues with pipes fracturing and diesel being sprayed around in the engine compartment.
First sign of this problem is the rear window becomes impossible to see thru.

Re: recall......I was at my dealer that I bought my 150 from and there was a hi ace getting the injectors replaced as a result of the recall. The mileage on this Hi ace was an astounding 800,000klm. It was a airport shuttle. The service manager told me that the injectors were replaced not because they needed it but because of the recall. Personally I think the injector problem has been fixed with the new seals, but I stand to be corrected. Hopefully all is well hey?
