If you try and move your bar by pulling pushing it with your hand you will not be able to and it will feel solid which it is. But if you wack or jar it with your hand you will see it vibrate. That is what you are seeing when it shakes. Just make sure you have good mounts for your spot lights, I had to buy new ones because mine cracked, but this time I added rubber in between the mounts and the bar. Have had no issues since.

ARB bar shaking

This has been covered extensively in the past.Originally posted by Beach View PostMy vehicle has the ARB deluxe bar with a winch. When driving it shakes around a lot. If I grab hold of the bar and try to move it, it feels very solidly mounted and I can't move it much at all. Then I drive again and it shakes around.
What sorcery is this???
As an experiment, take note of the gap between the bar and your bodywork. Now drive one wheel up a gutter, then check the gaps again. The gap will narrow on the corner where the wheel is up the gutter. This is why your bar appears to move. You are sitting in the body of the Prado and therefore, your eyes are noting everything else relative to the body of the Prado. The bullbar is not attached to the body. But the body is attached to the chassis via rubber blocks.
So the body is moving relative to the chassis. Therefore, it looks like the bar is shaking under some sort of a spell.

If this is true how come when I attach my camera to the bullbar is shakes like hell and I can't get a proper picture, and when I attach it to the body it is steady????????
If it was the body we would feel it through our arse and we would all sell our prados.

Bull Bar Aloy or steel
Hi All, Today I ordered an ARB steel Bull Bar for my Prado (I think it's a 90 series - 2002 model with flared attachments to the mudguards?- Apologies for my ignorance here - I am new to the 4x4 game).
Anyway, I have been torn between getting the Toyota genuine bull bar or the ARB steel. Now I read it (ARB) apparently shakes.
Do the alloy Toyota bars shake?
Have I made the right decision?

They all shake, its not an ARB thing at all. My Toyota bar I used to have was the same as my current ARB one. Its just the body and the chassis moving independently of each other that makes it look bad.Originally posted by signsmith12 View PostHi All, Today I ordered an ARB steel Bull Bar for my Prado (I think it's a 90 series - 2002 model with flared attachments to the mudguards?- Apologies for my ignorance here - I am new to the 4x4 game).

I was using the kangaroo jack on the stock Toyota black steel roo bar on my work troopy 4WD whilst demonstrating to my students the correct use of the jack. On each pump of the jack handle the antenna mounting point on the bar almost kisses the front edge of the bonnet before springing back again. So, as AJ and others have said, they all do it to some degree. And it hasn't fallen off yet, I've tried.Dave

Bugger Bali, get out and see Australia before we sell it all to China.
