  • Bull bar headlight reflection

for those of you that have bullbar's is this an issue/

The guys installing the Bbar on Thursday have said they normally put a layer of matt black paint on the back side of the bullbar loops to prevent headlight reflection back into the drivers eye's.

I can see the common sense of it but i don't like the idea from an aesthetic point of view.

anyone else got it? or not got it? or which they had it or didn't have it?

I don't have the paint on mine. When the bar was installed I thought about doing it to mine to stop the reflections. It was very annoying at first but I think I am getting used to it. I agree that painting it will disturb the ascetics a bit so I will wait a bit longer before I make a decision.

Maybe a couple of strips of Black gaffa tape to see if it makes a difference ?

that was my theory, i've asked them not to do it and i'll give it a run first. they mentioned it's not just the headlights but the sun also.

          Nah,
Have seen many bars like that and they look yuk, now if you had to drive into evening sun every day then I would do it. My Tojo Sov bar is fineI am used to it after only 1400km's.

40,000 Kms up on mine and there is no issue with reflection (sun or headlights) from the Bbar.

There are some wags on PP who might say that's 'cause I can't see over the steering wheel

            Cheers

I find that I get a more reflection/glare from the headlight and bonnet protection plastics than from the B/Bar (ARB C/Coded).

Zero reflection from my gloss black painted ARB bar. Get heaps though from from the Lightforce spottie covers, they need some black paint.

Chippy, you may not be able able to see over the steering wheel, but thats why you have an aerial at the front, right?

                          Hey McBain,

Don't do it - it'll look dicky (that's the technical term for it) and you'll hate it.

I haven't even moved my UHF antenna, 'cause I don't want a bloody bracket hanging off the bar. I'll get me one of those spring loaded thingies, once I convince myself that it's not going to cream the headlight in the first sign of scrub.

Try the headlights and bar for yourself first. You'll notice a bit of extra glare for a little while, then you won't notice a thing. Infact, it'll help you to know when your headlight globes are gone...
