  • Washing of seat covers

I was given some of those canvas (think there blackduck brand, one of the popular brands anyway) for my prado to cover all the seats including head rests etc. Can only make out on tag ""not to machine wash"". Just wondering what the difference is with hand washing or putting in our front loader machine ?? Cant see how it would harm them compared to me spending god knows how long dunking them up and down to try and get cleaned (fairly grubby to be expected is what there for). Will a front loader machine damage them in any way ??? even if I don't let it spin and stop after the wash then the rinse cycle.....Cheers Steve

I've washed my MSA covers multiple times in the machine and they're still good as new.

I use lux flakes as they're a bit softer on the material.

The reason I was told not to machine wash and use normal soap is it ruins the waterproof capabilities of canvas.

I stop mine before the spin and hang them out.

Takes a fair while to wash the whole car as it takes a few loads

Washing.....hmmm.....sorry Steve not my department. The wife has washed mine a couple of time whilst away at work but she knows better than to trouble me with the details.

Good idea Wooley, never thought of those lux flakes just come back from doing the bloody shopping to. I remember my mum using them at some stage. Looks like a trip back over, luckily very close. Cheers Steve
