My wife was offered an "airconditioner sanitiser" treatment at her last service. It was quoted at $80.
I called my friend who is involved in motor vehicle airconditioning and he laughed, and said don't waste your money. If your aircon needs to freshened up, go to an auto store and get a can of aircon sanitiser and do it your self.
Repco had a $20 off everything sale this weekend, so I got a couple of cans of AutoGlym Air-Con Sanitiser for just under $20 a can. You place the can in the box it comes in at an angle of approx 45 degrees and place it in the footwell, pointing at the aircon recirc intake. Take the aircon particle filter out, put the air con on recirc, (personaly I then covered the instrument panel with an old sheet. You start the car, trun the air con onto recirc at half fan speed, and cold setting, and you press the can button and it locks on. You get out of the car, and leave it run for 15 mins or so, then open the doors and let it air for ten minutes. Apparently it freshens up the aircon system and ducting. Probably not worth $20, but definately not worth $80. Anyway, if your car is smelling a bit off after some long long trips, it might just be worth a go to freshen upthe aircon system and ducting...easy enough, just be careful not to point the spray can at plastic trim or the carpet...worked for me, and best of all its DIY, might do it once a year or whatever..maybe. It seemed better than just an airfreshener, which make me sniff and sneeze, this was quite plesent. Auto Glym Air Con Sanitiser...maybe worth a try, (I don't have anything to do with this product.
Maybe that ChipIt fellow will think about importing a foreign air freshner spray and put his company sticker on the can and sell it at $15...
He could call it "AutoGlym Style Air-Con Sanitiser."
