    Hi guys

Got a question I am in the market for a uhf radio for in car install with a remote mic I have narrowed it down to either the uniden uh7760nb and the oricom uhf280. I heard good stuff about the uniden unit but wanted to know what you guys think of the oricom unit. I will mainly be using for highway driving truck channel etc.

    Thanks

    Tim

I have an oricom UHF180. It is a remote head unit as opposed to a remote mic unit. It has been working well so far. However I don't have anything else to compare to.

Oricom uhf280 is the unit I've had in 3 vehicles now. Overall for the price I am happy with it. Purchased from gadgetcity.com.au who i've always received great service and prices from for UHF related gear.

A little quiet in comparison to a unit with a speaker on the actual main unit though. However easily solved by purchasing an ext. speaker.

I have not checked prices elsewhere but Repco have the UHF280 on special until the 01/04/13 for $164 or 50% off

That's a good price for Repco considering it's nationwide store network. Gadgetcity's normal price is $165.

They also have bundles with antennas.

And while browsing their site, I discovered that there is a remote mic for my UHF180 too
