im not hear to insult either

the reason why it had a short motor put in is because of a previous owner, clip broken and crack in airbox caused non clean air to bypass the air filter and overtime wear down the cylenders, causing an oil leak, didnt replace the head as it was fine.

out of interest why would you walk away from a motor with 10,000kms?

Yeah the 1kz is low on power, but ok for a 4x4 they go ok, definitely less speeding tickets!

I'm considering the petrol, love the grunt, and the 20cents a litre saved compared to diesel.
Ok for normal driving, Don't think it's suitable, paying double the fuel bill when towing & offroad, if I've got it wrong 4000v6 owners please correct me, I know you can get ok economy normal driving, but I've been told on the tracks & towing they chew it.
There's other reasons for diesels as we know, but considering you pay so much more for the d4d, there's money to save, and definitely no injector/engine troubles.

3 options........ Stick with 1kz for now at least..... For me.....

because its not factory spec... a d4d if maintained should shit in 500,kays. ( that comes as a cost to the owner). if the original motor/ intake... etc wasnt maintained...... i'd ..walk away as who knows what the rest of the vechile suffered... find another... just food for thought, cheers butane

Just to put things into perspective i just sold my hilux 06 model SR.
Had 195,000kms on it, and a lot of gear on it. Was looked after well.

I got $25k for it, i advertised it for $27k. (first person to inspect bought it).

List it for what you think its worth, and just wait for phone inquiries - then you can gauge your pricing from that.

take a look at your engine bay, squeeze a v8 d4d in there

twin turbo v8 diesel cant go wrong.

I hear what your saying, I agree, all that work at 110k, I wouldn't even ring it.
But someone will see it as a good thing, 24k might be wholesale/trade.
I still think you could sort through buyers, and get around 30k, but leaving all the work been done out could help.
problem is all the engines I have ever seen been c/o they are crap, aftermarket leaking gaskets to start with. Basically you can't beat original stuff. If its a TOYOTA. New short motor then that's good, if the kids did a good job putting the head on & the rest....?
Anyway, there's only 1 way to find out what it's worth...... Put it on Carsales!

i work for toyota, did all the work myself got a shortmotor brand new from toyota (not wreckers) everything was genuine. the reason i went genuine was, if i were to use some shitty dodgy brand for a head gasket i would have to take the head off a second time to put a new gasket in. do it right the first time. i wouldnt sell this car on pradopoint if it was a piece of shit.

i dont want to sell it to a dealer where they will just strip it down and sell it to a soccer mum.

i want to sell it to someone whos genna use it for what its setup for.

no i dont work in japan, what makes you think that?

because i'm dam sure your toyota ,out let , looks nothing like the factory that the original motor was assembled in not to mention the associated components...
i 'm pretty sure the factory has got it sorted out , to wear the toyota factory badge.. if you had a choice would you buy your car or another if the shoe was on the buyers foot..... ?
