Now that we know we are talking about replacing tyres not wheels????
Dealerships are there to sell you thing and make $$$$$$ yes.
When it comes to safety they will be on the side of caution. But yes they will tell you need brakes by the time they are 1/2 worn, sell sell sell........
I service Hyundai too and rarely see their front tyres last more than 40k.
Often scrubbed out as well, the standard rubber is pretty soft.
Like new in 30k, you are dreaming! It's just not possible! Have fun at those stealerships.......

Yea will take some, it's an i30 wagon, like I said, im as religious with this car as my prado, my prado has got close to 40k on the bfg's and have only used 2mm, it's because I'm redulously anal with tyre rotations, pressures etc. I would say these tyres are probably 2mm down from new, I'm doing more research into tread depth from new so I can be 100%. But to be told that the "front tyres are on their last legs and the insides are scrubbed out and will need to be changes ASAP" is an absolute crock of shit!2008 120 Series 3lt D4D TD Prado GX, With to many bits to list :-) and more to come!!

Please put the pic of inside edges too, that's what I usually find, when these ppl bring it for the 1st service at 30k.Originally posted by Ghost View PostYea will take some, it's an i30 wagon, like I said, im as religious with this car as my prado, my prado has got close to 40k on the bfg's and have only used 2mm, it's because I'm redulously anal with tyre rotations, pressures etc. I would say these tyres are probably 2mm down from new, I'm doing more research into tread depth from new so I can be 100%. You may be excellent at looking after your tyres!
Bfg 2mm = 40k?????? So you will get 200,000klms and still have over 4mm of tread left........ You are religious!!!!

Ask mackay vx, jax tyres loves me, rotated and balanced every 5,000k tyre pressures checks and adjusted to 40psi every week (I have my own standalone compressor) so yes I plan on getting some bloody good ks out of my tyres. Although i am planning on putting new ones on well before this as i have heard about the compound going hard and then the tyres becoming dangerous.Originally posted by Anth120playdo View PostPlease put the pic of inside edges too, that's what I usually find, when these ppl bring it for the 1st service at 30k.

This is what i see every week on cars i service now , the insides of the front tyres are scrubbed out , the tyre needs to be legal around the whole tyre... not the bit you can see , if you have an accident and the insurance company knocks you back because the tyres are illegal.........Originally posted by Ghost View PostYea will take some, it's an i30 wagon, like I said, im as religious with this car as my prado, my prado has got close to 40k on the bfg's and have only used 2mm, it's because I'm redulously anal with tyre rotations, pressures etc. I would say these tyres are probably 2mm down from new, I'm doing more research into tread depth from new so I can be 100%. Sorry but it makes me cranky as the tyres are all that keep you on the road , and when the tech's err on the side of caution they get hammered by their boss the customer etc simply for reporting that tyres are not in the best condition
just to edit , this is why some guys don't report on anything they find wrong as quite often they are reamed out for reporting so called minor problems (yes i have seen it )2012 Graphite GXL T/D Auto, with all the normal crap you fit

Yep understand that bear, HOWEVER these tyres are not scrubbed out on the inside, or outside. I'm in complete agreeance that the tyres are close to most important item on the car, hence why I'm very particular with looking after them. What pisses me off is that they lied and if I had have been an idiot I would have accepted what they had said and had them replaced at over $400 quoted. The message to get to people is don't trust stealerships. I'm a fortunate person who doesn't trust anything anyone says without it being second checked especially when it will cost me money. I've been burned a few times by just talking people's word.Originally posted by Bear63 View PostThis is what i see every week on cars i service now , the insides of the front tyres are scrubbed out , the tyre needs to be legal around the whole tyre... not the bit you can see , if you have an accident and the insurance company knocks you back because the tyres are illegal.........

My missus took her corolla in for its scheduled service . They rang during the day to say that the fuel system and injectors needed cleaning . I enquired as to how much and exactly what the procedure would entail . They said they would run a special cleaning solution through the system and it would only cost an extra $140 . I told them to f#*^ off ,that a car with only 15000 ks on it doesn't need it's fuel system cleaned and if I did , I can buy the same cleaning solution for $6 .03 grande v6 , with added stuff that makes it go places . RTFM people !

No worries Ghost, this is where they are causing their own problems with trust
