I don't understand why people are having problems with a dark spot (or dead lit areas) in front of them, are your lights (headlights and spots) correctly adjusted, I have no such problem, I have had many times had a convo with truck drivers as I pass them (saying to them now that what you call lights) and joking with them on the UHF. I would make sure your lights are all correctly adjusted before making any purchase. As I have said before, upgrade your headlight loom too, much cheaper in the long run.

Good old Lightfarce, (yes I spelt it right), I would never buy one of their lights, overpriced for inferior quality, Chinese ones are better than them in my mind.

Does anyone get those 4WDA emails 4 times a day with winch, awning and light bar deals. I would like to know what the light bar and light output quality is like please. They seem pretty cheap.
Also as a side note I read on one of the forums someone had to pull their cheap light bar apart to reseal it as it was getting water in it.

I have a small 10in bar between my spots that i bought off {AMTS) Have no idea of brand,no markings ?
It has A row of 3 spreads 4 spots then 3 spreads. I think they are brilliant. The light is a nice clear white.Around town they are not much chop. But in the bush where it is complete darkness they light up the track like daylight for a good 50 mtr's then the next 50 mtr's is just like a set of normal lights.
I find my spots annoying in the bush.
They might shine down the road 400 mtr's but in the bush the tree's are only 10 mtr's away and when they hit the glare is to bright.
So i just use the light bar.Now i just need a 22in for the roof and i will be happy as Larry.

Hey Bendman, yea it will be interesting to see if they start enforcing it, I must admit I always have my lower fogg lights on when my lights are on, they give a really good infil light just infront of the prado, still keen on a light bar tho, once things settle I will start going nuts again, need some drawers for the big white girl and a fridge lol

I have heard of a few people getting booked, the last one was our plumber got booked on Fraser Island for a large one right across the roof rack, when he came back past the policeman he saw him in a bit of trouble in the darkness so stopped and said to him it is a pity I can't use this light bar I could of helped you out, and the policeman took the ticket back off him and accepted his help.

Haha... Really? That would be the last place I would have thought you'd get booked! Obviously didn't have the black middle spacer?

I am very keen to get one on my roof. Nsw law is very unclear, it just states it can't dazzle the other drivers. Use it sensibly I'm sure it would be okay but I don't think that would work with some cops.

As someone said, it's like fog lights. If the cop is an arse or having a bad day they'll ping you.

Lightbars are a real "funny" one when it comes to legality. Here in Sa lights have to be in pairs and no higher than the headlights. Having said that I have a Red Dog Offroad 22" lightbar mounted on the front of my car ontop of the bullbar and not had any issues.

As for quality etc the things to look out for are led wattage, water proof rating ip68 is what you want, and the overall mounting system. With all these things in mind I managed to decide on a light to put my brand name to. We have tested a number of lightbars and found a lot of the cheaper ones dropped leds after driving on corrugated roads etc.

Most bars use a 3w led which are ok. Ours run 5 w LEDs and we are achieving some great output and life from the units.

You should check out what regulations are required in your state.

                      Cheers Ron.
It would appear that QLD have revised their view on LED light bars and interestingly now allow for the fitment of an odd number of driving lights.

Thanks for posting that. It's amazing how NSW and all the other states are doing absolutely nothing and QLD appear to be very proactive about it.

Woot! Some sense at last. Now what about roof top lights?

I find it impossible to reconcile sense and the Qld Department against Transport. But yes finally they have decided to be reasonable. Also opens up the possibility of a 3rd (pencil beam) spotlight in the middle of the two spreads on my bullbar. Does the ADRs specifically prohibit roof mounted lights?
