  • clutch spring clunking/creak sound???

Hi guys....its back again....googled this and came up nada...
Depress the clutch in and it sounds like its catching on something...clunk/creak.......not on way out but only while pushing in....it appeared 4 moths ago for a week now its back.
The only thing I read on this was maybe use some thick grease spray on the main link up at the top of the clutch arm...

Suggestions please as it is pissing me off

I dont get clunking, but every single manual Toyota we've had or driven, 60s 70s 80s 90s and even the house's Daihatsu Terios (Toyota Rush) has a creaking clutch spring (I do believe its the collar) They work perfectly and it does not affect their lifespan. Just a harmless creak when pressing and depressing. I dont mind it, between my travelling friends we call its "the classic toyota clutch collar creak"

      What year vehicle?

If you you have the 6speed box it sounds like, the problem with the shaft the thrust bearing slides on, it's alloy, I don't know what Toyota/aisin were thinking when they changed to this design.
It get grit on it, worn and or dry & worn......

I am with trimardito on this one. Sound like the pivot point where the clutch fork pivots on. I was able to lube this point on my old celica with out removing the gearbox but not sure about the 120s. Should be a small boot where the clutch fork comes out of the bell housing. Just pull it back and have a look with a torch. You should be able to see the pivot point and try with a small amount of grease on a long screw driver to place some grease in the area. You may need someone to operate the clutch while you lube. Remember only use a small amount of grease as you don't want any on the clutch plate.
