Went in to get my son a new pair of work boots. I reckon blunies for the kids, while camping, are hard to beat. So anyway, hes 8 years old, and needs a size 4, Did anyone know this is a mens size, and mens price!!!!

So i decide to bite the bullet, no blunies in his size, so Redbacks it'll have to be. $100 down to $75, a bit rich but what can i do? I get the bird there to have a good search, and fit him properly, talk about the cost etc etc. I ring the boss, and we agree he needs them, so just get them, on sale is the best we can do.

So I'm walking around the shop carrying these gold plated man-child boots, looking for a new sleeping bag. What do I find at the back of the shop??? 3 boxes of seconds work boots mostly blunnies! shelf price $40, making them $30 after discount!!! I dig through these boxes like a man possesed, low and behold, what treasure is burried not so deep? just what i need, I get a pair of 4's and a pair of 5's for next year!

As i go to the register the same not-so-helpful woman is serving. "I found these down the back in the seconds box' I say. Her response... "Oh yeah I was going to suggest that to you..."

Not real helpful, but I still got a bargain.

$295 is the normal price, at 20% off they would be $236, at 26.5% (the extra discount for VIP members) it should have been $216.82.

Had to ring 3 stores to find Maxtrax, ended up getting another set at the Melbourne CBD store. Hubby got a pair of Cat leather work boots and some Dubbin to waterproof them. Would have loved to buy a Waeco fridge but couldn't afford it this month, oh well next year! Parking was non-existent round that store so we couldn't spend too long looking around.

Only disappointing thing was I've just checked the receipt and the shop assistant has only given us the 20% off the Maxtrax and not the extra 6.5% VIP discount, hubby paid so I didn't notice at the time. I don't understand how that happened since the club card was swiped and is noted on the receipt. The boots seem to have gone through at the correct discount, weird! I'm sure I can get it fixed, it's just a nuisance.

For those after Maxtrax or anything else from Ray's you can order them off the website at the sale price still.

        Hey Fiddo
Have noticed quite a bit of camping equipment including Waeco products at not bad prices at Harvey Normans "Big Buys"
Would be worth a look when you start researching your unit.
Not a big fan of H.N. just want the best price!
        Cheers

Thanks for the tip Troy. They have a Waeco CDF-45 for $550 at the moment, not sure how the CDF models compare to the CFX ones though.

I rang Ray's this morning and they said just to bring in the receipt and they'll fix up the incorrect discount, hubby works in town so that's not too much of a hassle.

I just logged into my Ray's account and the site is still giving the 26.5% VIP discount from the weekend's sale. Get in quick if you're after some Maxtrax or other 4WD or camping gear, even the Waeco fridges are still showing the discount. Don't know if they've just forgotten to update the site but items added to my cart retain the discount so an order should go through at those prices.
