  • Polaris In dash multimedia gps.

Hey people, I am needing to replace a faulting car stereo in my 90 series and am considering a Polaris double din In-dash multimedia/gps unit with dual mapping. My question is can anyone offer an opinion on the functionality of these units and as I already own a heap of hema maps can I upload them to the unit or read them from an sd card or do I need as suggested by Polaris have them pre install the maps at an additional cost.

    Thanx

Far as I know its all proprietary software and cannot be hacked....
As for thw gps it works fine....its a bit hard to use but it is what it is....im keeping mine but spending my $$$ on an android tablet with hema installed on a floor mounted goose neck from ram.....swewt setup....

Ps.....the screen glare is terrible....worst ive ever seen during daylight hours....complete crap.....

For this one flaw....dont buy it.

I went and looked at these in their showroom in Rydalmere. Of the two they had on display they couldn't get either one to work properly. When I said that I had a legal copy of Oziexplorer with maps and asked if I could just load them onto an SD card they said no - I had to pay for them to load them - not impressed!

Thanks Guys, enough to change MY mind. I also have a dash mount 7" touch screen loaded and licensed. I think I'll replace the stereo and keep using that for gps.

I have the digoptions unit in mine and rarely use the navi now as I use a couple of different progs on my iPhone. (MotionX & Navigon mainly). The Missus loves the reversing camera feature but, and couldn't survive without it now....

I have the NG7200 unit. Had heaps of issues when i got it . I rang them heaps of times, they sent me software updates
,but still had issues. I put up with it for almost a year then decided to send it back for repairs just before the warranty was up. Its a lot better but still not impressed with it. The off road mapping is great though.

              Would i buy another...........NO WAY
