  • Camp Chair Mod

Thought I'd share this mod with the forum that I came up with over the week-end, it improved the overall comfort of my chair and relieved my lower back pain.

After looking at chairs at the Sydney show I noted that several brands were incorporating adjustable straps around the low back area of the chair. So being a cheap ass, I figured that a tie down strap wrapped around the front legs of my current chair and the back rest would give the same effect as the adjustable lumber support offered by these new chairs. The result was in my humble opinion outstanding and saved me the $50-100 it would have cost for a new chair.

Cheap ass! I just bought 2 new camp chairs. Our original ones are still going strong after I bought them in 1998, same time I bought my first Prado.

Bugger Bali, get out and see Australia before we sell it all to China.

Good work Pinko! I have a bad back and need the old fashioned style of compact folding chair due to space restrictions. This might save me some expense, as I have been looking at new chairs that are both comfy and compact when folded and haven't found anything suitable yet.

Saving $50 to $100 on chairs means more money for mods!

I thought you were laying off the mods for a while. Is this a case of just can't help yourself, or just planning for the next lot of mods?

          Does it ever really end?
Certainly nothing that costs as much as the last few (for now), but camp table isn't too far away and maybe...? or...?

I have the expensive version of the lumbar support chair, it's brilliant.

I remember a family do a few years ago where every was bragging about how cheap they got their camping chairs at BigW or K mart, I kept my mouth shut. The interesting part was when I stood up and someone else sat in my chair, no one wanted to get out and I ended up in the cheap arse chairs.

For a second when I first saw the pic, I thought you might've invented a camp-chair toilet.
