Yesterday I was parked in the work carpark, which is a dodgy three level dirt carpark, of resumed lots with the houses removed in the middle of Spring Hill. The 4WD's tend to park down the bottom in the roughest part. I was parked on a flat area, well out of the way, or so I thought! One of the other guys parked his Patrol on a steep rough dirt (well, mud with all this rain) section extending up behind where I was parked, with the rear of his car at right angles to the rear of our Prado. His car slipped in the mud as he was getting out of it, and his front right corner glanced of the rear left corner of my car. There isn't too much damage, the rear bumper is cracked, the tailight is cracked, a small dent and paint off. I did feel sorry for the guy though, he came in on an OT shift, the proceeds of which is now being spent on his excess!

I reckon you're right Snaga. I tore the right rear mudguard clean off the car on a really ugly bit of track. In fact ... we never even noticed until we went back for a walk along the track and saw this mudguard sitting there ... I remember thinking .. "This looks like a Prado mudguard ... it will make a great spare"Originally posted by SnagaIs it just me or does damage to our baby's hurt less when it's done off-road :?

Hope your baby is put right again real soon Esie.

Too right Snaga, in my experience most off-road damage has been the drivers fault (ie me) and thus no-one else to blame but yourself so you tend to dismiss it under the heading of "s#%t happens" or "well that's what the car was made for". But when someone else causes damage to your pride and joy that's when it really hurts!!Originally posted by SnagaIs it just me or does damage to our baby's hurt less when it's done off-road :?

Yep it does hurt less,
Untill you get home.
As for a price, well I havnt got it fixed yet. Got quoted for about $600 from a friend.
Mine is just bumper, no panel.
But I took it off that night and with Chippies words running through my head poured a heap of boiling water in it and pushed most of it out.
Its about 85% of what it used to be. Not enough to really worry to much about.Reminds me of my safari in Africa. Somebody forgot the corkscrew and for several days we had to live on nothing but food and water.

What is it about this area of the Prado? I have just done the same thing!
Backing up a track and didnt see a stump even though I have a reversing camera. Reflector, dent in the bumper. Have to get a quote but hey that's why we have insurance!Dirttracker, (Martin)

As I mentioned in this thread, we had an incident on NYE.
http://www.pradopoint.com/viewtopic.php ... c&start=15
I have taken the smashed wheel cover off, must admit, I like the look of the car without the wheel cover. Will look even better with a set of muddies that I hope to get in the next couple of weeks.
I can't believe that the bullbar went through the gyprock wall and cracked / dislodged two studs, yet does not have a mark on it. Who said alloy bars aren't strong.
Esie - hope your car gets fixed real soon.

i was at a service station putting air in the tyres . there was nothing behind , but when i got in and threw it in reverse , didnt notice the plumbing truck with pvc tube hanging off the front that had moved in behind me. smashed back window and destroyed brake light above back door..ouch .. if that wasnt bad enough 1 month later reversed and put tow ball through door of toyota yaris at bottle shop....ah the excess.... have put in reverse camera now , especially with the lift..

Hey joey.... it's much cheaper just to look backwards when you reverse 8)
Seriously... do the reversing sensors detect small things like poles etc. or are they just for parking near other cars?Cheers, Leon
