  • How often do you check your Pressure Gauge is calibrated correctly?

Me? Never had worried about it previously.

2 weeks ago I purchased a new ARB hose kit with pressure gun / gauge, and only today I noticed that my existing hand held gauge and this new ARB one have a difference of 5 PSI??

Does not sound like much, but as far as I am concerned it is allot...... Air down... 10 V's 15 PSI (Who knows!!) Air Up .... 35 V's 40 (Who Knows??)...

So next question, who / what do you compare them against? The guys up the street could be wrong........

not very often you'll find two which read the same.

find one you like, that reads how you want and then base everything off that one.

I have 3 gauges, one digital, one manual, and the ARB ezy deflator, all read within 1.5 psi so I figure they must be pretty close. I deflate based on the ezy deflator and inflate using the digital, the manual gauge is a backup that came in them ARB tyre repair kit.

I am pretty much the same. Deflation based on ARB ezy deflator, inflation based on ARB handset. I also have a small manual one that I've had for years and keep it as a backup/spare and for others to use if they don't have one. I recently added Tyredog TPMS and all of the other gauges are within 1 PSI of the Tyredog. So, I'm at least precise, if not accurate.

This is a good Q. I have always assumed that the air hoses at servos are likely to be inaccurate but what about the ones used by tyre sellers? They should be more accurate.

My ARB deflator seemed to be out 5 - 6 psi. I tested the deflator against the ARB inflator, a quality gauge I use at home with my compressor and a stand alone gauge at the BP I use. All within cooee of each other except the deflator. I took it back and the ARB manager tested five at their store before finding one that come within 1 psi.

I would not expect total accuracy and now happy that all I use are similar and that's close enough.

I believe my Tyredog TPMS, it does have a +/- 0.5 PSI error rating which is close enough for me

Most major tyre dealers should have their qauges checked with a calibrated gauge once a year. Ask them and get yours checked, if it reads different just add or subtract the differance. I get mine checked twice a year.
