Has anyone been trying to log in under my username?

I have received 4 emails this afternoon telling me that someone has tried to log in with my user name.

    Dear stevep84,

Someone has tried to log into your account on PradoPoint - Toyota Prado 4x4 Landcruiser Forum with an incorrect password at least 5 times. This person has been prevented from attempting to login to your account for the next 15 minutes.

The person trying to log into your account had the following IP address: 108.162.250.122

    All the best,

Has one else has this occur?

    Cheers,

    Steve

I had this happen the other day Steve but in my case I was trying to login after requesting a password reset.

I still can't login if I use the small password box at the top right of the screen. I have to wait for the error message and the login box to come up in the center of the screen even though I know I'm using the correct password.

Surely the mods can block the IP address?

Thanks the info mate. Is there anyway to find out if they got in?

I wonder what they hope to gain by hacking forum accounts?

Lol I think you need to contact admin or mods as they have there server info and can probably give some tips on when "You" last loged in! I dont like tracking hackers Co's they usually grab your IP as you are passing through!! Lol...... I always have my browser (Mozilla Firefox) in perminant Private mode and clear all cookies so i dont leave info for them to steel!... Hackers love cookies! Cheers

Hmmm now that I think of it the ones I had were from IP address: 108.162.249.118, that address isn't on my ipconfig list either.

ETA: Lookie, it's another Cloudflare address :- http://myip.ms/info/whois/108.162.249.118

My PCs all sit behind a router which gets a dynamically assigned address from my cable modem/ISP, I don't have a static IP address.

When I tried to log in during the day yesterday I was told I had too many incorrect login attempts.

Must be the same lovely folks doing the rounds?

                        Hi Guys,

Just to clarify a few things.

Cloudflare is a service/company that we are now using to mitigate the majority of the spam accounts and excess load on the server.

They perform a function whereby DNS is delegated to their servers and each page request is served by Cloudflare before it hits the actual server.

It is a CDN (content delivery network) which means that when you request an image, or a page it is retrieved from the location closest to you. For most of us this is the Sydney server.

They also reference a database which keeps track of known spam ip addresses and restricts them from hitting our site.

The ip addresses mentioned above are Cloudflare addresses consistent with the CDN.

The results for the server load and page load speed have been great. Many members have commented on how quick the site is now the changes have been implemented.

I will have a look at the login issue posted above. It's been almost 2 weeks since this was implemented and I have not had another issue like this raised.

John: no member is blocked from certain threads unless we move the thread in it's entirety.

                        Cheers,
                        Aaron

I think if you read in between the lines, "and the Roo can correct me if I'm wrong" (I might be on a different wave length?) but i think the Roo has also noticed that informative and important information that was informative towards PPs has been removed or disappeared from the forum? Cheers

Yes got that Skr. And it's a valid point that the Roo was making that even got Aaron's attention. It was just the whole "rainforest and monitor lizard" thing that made me want to go sit on a mountain. Perhaps Roo could use this Confucius image for his avatar? (Quite appropriate given Roo's stature these days...)
