I've been thinking about and looking into a possible upgrade, I'm about ready for an auto as well. I don't have space issues so a dual cab F250 is on the list for space and towing, and the 200series is on the list for towing and equal comfort to the Prado. The main winner when picking the Prado was fuel range of the combined two tanks. I think I can get away with a 200 series easy enough but if I get a F250 I'll have to find something for the lady friend to get around in as well.[FONT="Comic Sans MS"][SIZE="2"]09 D4D Prado - Toyota issue White

yeah no worries, when i took mine for a test drive i found it quiet the opposite, yes they are geared short but thats the idea of 6 ratios to give you the best of both worlds, 1st was over in a heartbeat but it didnt hold onto 2nd for 2 long and and shifted very well, also they are an adaptive box so they learn to your driving patterns, im very happy with mine and maybe yours was having some troubles, not sure. cheers samohad an 03 gx 120 with some gear now got a 2013 bt 50 GT auto some ARB gear.

I wouldn't be surprised if it typically starts in 2nd depending on the load the tranny senses. It's a nice box from my limited exposure. My 150 build - http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread.php?27423-A-Random-approach-to-a-Bluestorm-150-GXL-D4D-automatic

Be interested to see how it fairs mate, we have them at work, but with 80,000 they are stuffed. Having said that tho, they tow the 3 tonne lighting plants pretty easily, but the clutches go quicklyOriginally posted by Sako85 View PostI picked up a new 76 series last week, love it. Towing capacity is 3500kg braked, and there and a lot of guys are doing a relatively simple GVM upgrade.

I'm coming out of three Patrols previous to this and there are pros and cons with it. Definately a basic vehicle but that is exactly what I like, less things to go wrong IMO. Live axles, F & R lockers standard, turbo V8 Diesel... yes thakyou very much. You are right though, no auto option.

Just me but I would personally pick the new VRX Pajero if I could not get a Prado, right size. Decent engine, 3000kg towing, all the mod cons for $60K drive away.-----------------------

I seriously considered the Amarok. Especially with 0% finance deals if you're buying new. But the troubles with VW gear boxes and big denials about any issues made me baulk.Originally posted by Ghost View PostI'm liking the look of the amarock or the ranger, mates have both and love them,

I won't be throwing my hard earned at a Ford (or Holden) ever again. The Ranger is very sophisticated. I'm just waiting for a few of them to develop some issues and the standard "Its within spec, Sir" answer from Ford.
