The only thing I don't like is the massive rear swing door. I know a few people that won't buy a 4wd vehicle with the swinging barn door.

It would be great if Toyota put the Land Cruiser split doors on.

Had often wondered about the new Ford Ranger Dual Cab..... The rear seating seems bigger than most and I've only heard good reports....

A mate has one of the new wildtrak ranger utes, they are bigger than the prado and have more grunt, but the interior & dashboard has a cheap quality feel/look to it.

A lot of big companies and govt departments are buying them now instead of hiluxes so that tells you something too.

I sat in a 130 Defender yesterday (dropped off a work mate who was picking up a new RR Sport) and the seats are still woeful. I couldn't get enough leg room (and I am not tall) in the front and with the seat all the way back the rear was only good for below knee amputees. And it is still agricultural. Well it was when the mud wiped off my boots on the floor.

I have a dual cab (hmm two at the moment) and there is no way I would take one of these over a wagon. The rear suspension is way too stiff for a comfortable ride and if you go for a decent ride then you compromise the load carrying capacity which is why you have the thing in the first place. If I had to have a separate 4wd for only 4wd duties then maybe but as a daily driver no way. Longer and harder to park, visibility (especially with a canopy) is poor etc etc. Just my opinion. I know the new breed are fabulous vehicles for power and driving and would eat my Prado off the mark and towing but they still suffer from those couple of issues and not for me.

As for the RR the salesman was doing the pre drive away spiel which I will admit was way better than I have ever had from any brand and when he got to the rear tow hook he mentioned it was for recovering Toyotas and Nissans (he knew I had a Toyota since I test drove a Disco before getting the 150). Then he came to the front (eventually) and pointed out the front recovery hook and I chimed in with "so the Toyotas can pull you out of the shit". No comment. However he did say LR confirm the recovery points are suitable for a snatch or winch recovery.

Tells me that they're probably better than the Hiluxes.... or more reliable or suitable....Historically, they have always gone majority gone with Toyotas..... maybe the tides changin

I took the mum in laws car up to the mechanic yesterday for some new tyres and a service while they're on their cruise (she never looks at the tyres and they're rooted lol)
But to my point....there was a pajero on the hoist and I noticed it had very good factory rear recovery points on it, I didn't think to look at the front, but the rear was impressive for factory. maybe Tojo are just cheapskates.

Yeah that's exactly what I got from it too....That would have hurt Tojo Aust you'd have to think, Nation wide it would be a few thousand vehicles you'd think.

It tells me Ford has done a better deal than Toyota. Large procurements are often swayed by the attractiveness of the deal, rather than the best item for the job.

Maybe. Good luck when a warranty claim is needed.

Not really, if there are two very similar options then yes it can come down to price but quite a bit of research goes into the decision price is one of the factors but it isn't the main factor, so to say it's based on price is incorrect.

You will find most companies are buying other vehicles due to the safety/ AMCAP rating. Utes like the new Ranger have a higher rating then the Hilux hence why lease companies are trading up for corporate companies with safety policies relating to light vehicles on sites.

                              Cheers

Pretty much all of them otherwise they'd all be driving around in "Great Walls" as they are the cheapest thing by miles.

So you've been part of the decision making process for acquisitions on a large scale have you?? Don't mean to be rude but I don't think so.

Anyway we are getting off topic here so i'll leave it at that.
