There is a BP on the highway about 15min from me, until about 2 weeks ago it was always at least 10c but usually more like 15-20c cheaper than any other servo on the coast including independents. Even the bp 50 meters away directly across the highway from it was always 10-15 dearer on any given day.
Now they are on par with everyone else, I wonder did they get forced to do it or maybe someone else bought it?? It seems strange after they've been sticking it to the other servos for as long as I can remember.

    Cheers
    James

There's a servo at Plainland between Toowoomba & Brissy called Rusty's. The same as you mentioned. Always way cheaper than all other servo's and usually only charge $1.33 to $1.37 per litre. I nearly fall over when I go to Brisbane and see their fuel prices compared to Toowoomba. Brisbane's 12 cents per litre dearer than Toowoomba.

You mean petrol don't you. Diesel, at least around Sydney, doesn't have the fluctuations that petrol has.

wish I could say that .... I fill up about every 10 days and no need for jerry cans as most of the time it is close 150ltrs put into the Prado

Got two fuel discount vouchers from Coles over the last fortnight, both with 50c per litre off. I've never seen such big discounts before. Kinda encourages one to go for a drive, as i can't see myself going through two full full-ups in the next month.

Might have to auction one off...

We shop at Coles, but its a 140km round trip to get to a Coles service station Sorta buggers the discount straight away.

Doesn't that show you that fuel is 50c per litre more expensive that what it should be. They will keep doing this crap until Australia wakes up to it self and have fuel at the non inflated price. The gov will not do anything nor find anything wrong as they are getting extra GST on that inflated price.

no it doesn't suggest that at all, it is called loss leader were u sacrifice on area to drive sales in another. Business have been doing it for years just have different means of doing it these days. The fly buys offers r all about loyalty and reward. To get 50 cents u must be spending a bit each week.

Out of interest for those in Cairns at the moment... Lots of roadwork just south of Cairns has caused a little servo to no longer be on the main highway coming in to cairns but on the service road and out of the way. In an effort to maintain customers they have dropped there diesel price to 10c lower than any other servo (150.9 atm).

I now fill up there regularly as the coles and woolies discounts cannot match it and he is not one of the big chains either. Had a quick chat with him and he said he is actually busier and is looking at putting in another diesel pump (currently only has 1) as business is busier than ever.

So the discounts are a load a BS and the prices are currently set way too high for profit gouging!!! IMO.

                          Cheers,

yeah, it causes the people who don't understand it to stay in the coles cycle, shop coles, get coles booze discount, get coles fuel discount, get car insurance discount etc, same goes for woolworths.

plus the whole time as we all swipe our cards they learn our shopping habits and direct deals/discounts to us, and change their product lines to maximize their earnings.

coles and woolies are good at it, but if you've ever visited uk/europe, tesco are amazing at it!

Look at the price of oil and the value of the OZ dollar. When you work it out the price of fuel should be around the $1.12 to $1.15 mark not what it is now. and infact they admitted that the servo stations have risen the profit margin from 5c per litre to 15c per litre on fuel.
