The targeted advertising is kinda funny. I have all this dating stuff and 'meet sexy singles' type ads and even stuff like 'how to get back at your ex'. Last one is easy...... I'm just going to make a FB account for the dog and say we're in a relationship..... Hopefully I'll get better ads too!

I use it for my business and my wifes business, we are both on different groups on FB, it is free advertising for us and you cant beat that.

I've got it but only because a mates wife who used to go riding with us on the weekends would putt all the photos on fbook. I just don't use it though as I feel the same as you ####.
SWMBO joined it about a week ago just to keep up with one of her mates who's on an o/s trip, other than that she thinks it's a waste of time too.
My daughter on the other hand.....well she's 12 & not allowed facebook yet but she has half a dozen other types of online communicating crap on her computer, it really scares me to be perfectly honest. I keep lecturing her about only having people she already knows on there and that whatever she puts on there will be saved somewhere forever so she needs to be careful.

I just love it when kids get busted on the news for sending nude photos or nude "selfies" to each other because I make her watch it and try to drum into her just how stupid that crap is & how these silly but normal average kids are getting charged with stuff like child porn and having sex offender records. Not to mention that there's now a naked photo of them in cyberspace somewhere.
I just hope it getting through to her.

But like Jasen said PP is a whole different story lol.

Damn you've made it a challenge for them, now they have to press 2 buttons to get all your details instead of just 1. That took them a whole extra 3.7 seconds, and now they're curious as to what you've got to hide hahaha.
I have some excellent aluminium foil if you'd like to make a special hat to stop their brain rays from penetrating.

I'm not a fan and find it a big waste of time. I can't understand what people get from posting every little detail of their daily lives. I also don't understand why people gamble. Maybe I'm really missing out on something?

For those that use it for business - Has it really helped increase business? Can you quantify the effects directly or is it just another way of getting out there?

I am on Fecesbook, with very limited friends and maxed out security settings. I only got on it because my missus kept at me for 7 years about it.
And just to annoy her I rejected her friend request.

I have not got the app on the phone, and probably never will.
I went to a zombie session (teen party) last week and everyone was just on their phones all night. Quietest party I've ever been to. Even the parent went to bed before the party was over.
Not the party of years gone by


I'll agree, it has uses, but overall I really couldn't care if the whole thing was shut down tomorrow.

I've never signed up or used FB. I couldn't be remotely bothered with it to be honest because to me it seems like another pesky little thing in your life you've got to maintain and people are so busy these days. People at my old work tried for 2 or 3 years to got me on it & I eventually found out they had a long running bet going on. I just kept fobbing off idea with absolutely no intentions of ever using it. After the 2nd or 3rd year they gave up trying. My wife has it and is regularly on it, and I don't mind at all. I'm all for her using it for seeing family & friend's updates and posting pics and so forth, plus she tells me what's going on in FB world and shows me some pics or comments from time to time. I don't like the ones who use it like a diary and post every little thought process and things they do every day on it and generally attention seek (I'm sure you've all had 1 to 3 those in your contacts list on FB at some stage before blocking them). Those people are nutters and extremely needy and you should steer well clear of them. I think the more overly active people on it that post meaningless attention seeking garbage many times every day more than likely don't have many or any real friends so they over compensate.

My boss from my previous work place even bought me a black t-shirt that had printed on it in big white letters, "No, I'm not on f*ing facebook!" I only wore it twice because it draws too much attention. One occasion was in Rainbow Beach and when I was walking down the footpath and a few groups of foreign backpackers who passed me were pointing, giggling amongst themselves & saying stuff I couldn't understand. Some of them even looked downright shocked when their friends pointed out the shirt to them. It was quite embarrassing really & I changed it at the car which was parked down the street.

Will I ever get on FB? No. Why? Not interested and don't have time for it. Plus I don't want to have to maintain relationships with people I know on FB. Do I hold it against others for using it? No not in the slightest. Do I miss out on anything the family or friends are doing by not being on it? No, because anything important that happens I get told about anyway when I see them, or my wife fills me in.

Love it. It ads another dimension of keeping in touch with people with common interest who I don't get to see. People say it wastes time but those same people probably watch TV which is mostly crap and mind numbing. It's like anything it depends on how you use it...

Will Facebook add something to my life? Doubt it!
Can't see me ever joining the masses to be friends with everyone without offending someone when they misunderstand what's said.
The wife is on it constantly and keeps me updated with my family interstate. I'll stick to PP only, which has provided knowledge, humour and the ability to meet some great people.

I like it, I'm on most days.
Its interesting to see people bagging it saying what a waste of time etc but then they're on a forum talking to "friends" that they've never met, and I could point out a lot of threads that are pure drivel as well!
Each to their own :-)
