I was told that ARB have their bars made in China now, perhaps they melted down one of our older rust ships to build this bar with, hehehe.

Seriously, if they are made off shore now I'll be going to Tigerz, what's the difference in ARB Chinese steel over Tigerz Chinese steel?

ARB make some of the commercial range in Thailand - in a factory they own and built, all deluxe bars and 90% of their core range are made in Melbourne. TJM make their bars in china - at their own facility. Ironman a mix of china and Thailand. Powerful 4x4 china and so on.

There is possibly a huge difference. Where something is made is irrelevant. What you want to know is whether ARB or who ever controls the manufacturing process end to end and do their own quality control. If they do then it is the same product as made locally. Many companies setup manufacturing overseas, some just outsource it, others just buy from a common production line and wack their own sticker on it it just depends on how it is done.

Josh, while quality is important, I am just as interested in keeping a few manufacturing jobs at home.

Hi guys, apologies for the silence here on my behalf. I've been off for a few weeks after the birth of a new bub. Mick has been in contact with me and we've arranged to take another look at his vehicle up here at Head Office (tomorrow). I'm sure Mick will report back after tomorrow. Cheers, Sam.

After the second assessment of the vehicle at ARB's head office on Tuesday i can report that ARB are happy to replace the bar (including fitting) as a gesture of good will. From ARB's perspective, it was still deemed that the light coming loose, which, coupled with the severe corrugations of the Anne Beadell Highway, caused excessive vibration and constant stresses to be applied to and around the mounting hole, which then caused the cracking . ARB suggested that they dont see this issue very often and when they do, it's usually as a result of ill fitted or loose lights. Once the bar is replaced i will be changing the mounting bolt used in the Hella mounting bracket to 12mm and continue to use the large steel plate (previously pictured) to spread the load under the mounting hole. The guys from ARB were very helpful and thanks to Sam for getting me in contact with the right people. Cheers, Mick

A good example of the fourm resulting in them re-evaluating and you getting the right result.
