A friend has a Prado 120 4l v6 and the gearbox won't shift to 5th gear (the 3GR-FE has been replaced with a 1UZ-FE) , the only thing that was removed was the torque convertor which was replaced with the one from the 1UZ-FE. The lights on the dash shows the following: vsc off , vsc trc , and a pic of a car with two squiggly lines under it. He did check the centre diff lock and it still works as it should do , so he is bit stumped but it will probably be another "never to old to learn" story.
He has connected all the sensors , revcounter , aircon and even the speedcruise and all of it works as he used the electric controlled throttle body from the v6 on the lexus and it works like a bomb. He stopped at a gearbox serviceing centre and he had the idea of fitting the original airflow sensor back even though it does not control the motor as the after market ECU does that now.
Does anyone have an idea of what the problem could be?
