with ARB Catalog, with TJM add ons!
Well if you want to do dodgy stuff, that that is up to you, just let me know where your driving so that I can be nowhere near you. You do realise that you are compromising the handling of the vehicle, thus endangering the occupants, and everyone around you
97 VX Grande, with front & rear air lockers, ARB Sahara winch bar with tigers 11 winch, 2" EFS lift, 265/75/16 Achilles Desert hawk XMT, and more.
Bitumen - A blatant waste of taxpayers money!
Closer to 60kg would be my guess too. I couldnt lift it on my own, more the awkward size then the weight.
The bar itself weigh's a bit but the mounting brackets etc. add a substantial weight to the bar.
Everything fitted, mounting brackets + bar + stone guards = possibly even a little over 60kg now that i think about it.
Regarding the perceived NEED to upgrade the springs in the front of the vehicle, i call rubbish on that. The bull bar isnt going to push an otherwise unladen vehicle anywhere near the GVM.
Thats like saying the vehicle was really only made to carry 2 people despite having 7 seats and if you wanted to carry 7 people you'd need to upgrade the suspension...
With a curb weight of 2330kg and a GVM of 2990kgs = 540kg to play with.
Unless you have upgraded you GVM (minority that actually do), 99% of the people traveling around out there are over GVM and a far greater hazard on the roads then someone who fits a bull bar to the vehicle and leaves their factory suspension in place and just drives around town with an otherwise unladen vehicle.
Now, if your planning on overloading the vehicle and going 4x4ing then sure upgraded suspension will help improve the handling and ride. Or if you want more ground clearance etc. etc. etc. then upgraded suspension is a wonderful thing but saying you must upgrade the front coils just because you have a bull bar fitted is incorrect, there are a lot more variables to consider.
I second that a steel bar cries for an suspension upgrade. The ground clearance on mine was diminished and cornering became quite wobbly. After putting in new springs the ride was significantly better, firmer overall yet more comfortable.
Think about where weight inside the vehicle is placed and where a bull bar is placed... It's simple physics.
Simply physics tells us that 60odd kg at one end of a 2.5tonne object isnt going to change much. By much i mean, the WORLD isnt going to END.
Yep, you'll notice it the first time you drive with it on but thereafter it will feel 'normal'.
Yep, new suspension is awesome too and id highly recommend it but to tell someone is must be done or you will become a danger to society is going a little to far.
