Anyone run power to the roof via the front of the Prado?

So I looked at a nice setup last night where Darren had rear work lights and a light bar on the roof and he had run power up via the bung in the rear door opening and up the channel to the roof rack.

Is it possible to run up power/ coax at the front of the vehicle.
1. I guess you may be able to do is via the very corner of the windscrenn but I guess it could leak and then may be presure on the wires or
2. up via the engine bay, through the snorkel and put it out via a small hole in the back of the snorkel and up the windsereen chanel.
or
3. What about top rear corner on the pillar of the drivers door?

Bascially I need twin core 4mm and a run of coax up there and prefer not to take the coax all the way to the back of the car, through the bung and forward to the front again on the roof rack.

I wonder if filling the windscreen channel, has any issues with water ingress?
Would have like the drivers door pillar the best but dont think I can make that work

Shouldn't be any issues. I run my coax up the side of the windscreen. There's no need to get under the trim. There is a space between the glass and the trim to tuck the cable in there. The windscreen seal is not compromised at all.

I've done the same-run the coax up the windscreen for my UHF aerial on the roof rack.
Just used a thin stream of silicone to hold it in place. No troubles in 9 years

No issues with mine running up the windscreen. I used some black vinyl-mastic tape to keep the cable in the roof rail groove. Wouldn't know it's there unless someone told you!

Windscreen is a good option but I may have found another.
from roof console across to drivers door pillar down behind the trim near the seatbelt is a bung to the outside, then up the outside of the pillar to the roof rack, seems the shortest run, but may have the cable exposed for about 3 inch to the roof rack. I dont really like that though. More investigation required.

Robert how many amps are you looking at pulling out of the cable? I am thinking about a light bar on the roofrack and a cable up the back and along the roofrails. Some of these light bars are 180 ~ 240W so up to 20A! For a 7m run that means a cable bigger than 4mm2.

God point, that's exactly why I was thinking of running up the front. One side up the windscreen is for my coax , the other side I will see what size wire i can squeeze under the windscreen rubber
My requirement is 2 amps and 40 watts for the rear lights and potentially ~18 amps and 240W for the light bar.
If I go up the front I need a much shorter run to the front of the roof rack was my reasoning than running to the rear door up the rack and then to the front of the rack.

If & when I get lightbar for up on our rack I will be running cable up the windscreen along with coax for aerial. Already running power for our awning light strip this way.
