I've also had a great run with the ATZ on my 120. These new P3's have me very interested when the time comes.

                  I prefer the P3.

                          980 tyres size?

I was looking forward to filling up my arches a bit with a 70 profile tyre...but the 980 only comes in 65 for a 265 width....he suggested I go 275 65 17 which will increase profile around 6mm.....

But what undermines this in one way is the extra width equels.possible fuel increase....

Sooo my current set up is 265 65 17 and it accelerates well ans deflates and bags out very well and ive not noticed any problemswhen deflated on outback roads etc.....what shoukd I do?....go to the Atzp3 70 profile or go with the 265 65 set?

Simple wquestion but I do hope some of you lads actualy have been down this road and am wondering if you coukd tell me why I should choose the 65 profile 980 over the atzp3 70 profile or vici verca....

                          Cheers

The 265/70R17 would be higher in fuel than 275/65R17. The weight in the 265/70R17 is further out and so needs more energy to turn it.

So a wider tread pattern is easier to turn than a higher profile persentage like a 70...

                              So do others feel comfortable going for a 275 65 17 in a 980?
I picked one up again today and was extremely impressed....I hope they live up to the hype as I expect.....

What are others thoughts on the two sizes of maxxis AT 980's being 265 65 17 & 275 65 17?

Baggs, the 265/70 is a bigger rolling diameter than the 275/65 as the sidewall height is a % of the width. Ie 70% of 265 vs 65% of 275. Forget the 10mm width it make next to no difference in the resistance. I run 275/65, why because they r legal and make virtually no difference to the economy or drive ability of the car.
