  • poor service tigerz11

    gday all,

just wondering if anyone else has experienced poor service and poor quality parts from 'tigerz11'

I have purchased a couple of items and each time the service has been less than poor (still waiting for a reply for a faulty shovel/lift holder over a month ago) and parts used for fitting a roof rack. I am sure I cant be the only one to experience this???

pls tell us your stories..........I say stories as im sure there'll be plenty of them.........

These new cheap companies are shonky for sure in their quality and service. ARB, TJM, etc. good products, good service, national coverage the way to go in my opinion..

I think Bendman has hit the nail on the head as far as the service part goes. The company probably doesn't have the infrastructure set up properly for the volume they have to contend with lately. Maybe they will get it together who knows.

yes agree to all replies, shame they don't have themselves setup appropriately to deal with any problems.........poor service not to reply to a customer fault
I agree with cheap, you get cheap quality, I accept this.
I will say I have their winch, used many times with no fault, have their roof rack, as couldnt equate $700 difference between an arb rack and a tigerz. the fitting prob not as good, but still a good rack overall.
        its just their service????

I don't buy from Tigerz. So never had an experience.
Why? You can buy from other smaller companies, that do provide some service.
Same products from the same Chinese manufacturer, sometimes half the price.
Naturally the quality is not ARB, but with the price at a quarter for what looks almost the same, that's why people do it.
You know, the old saying you get what u pay for.

Half price of tigers you ask? Well an example is tigers roof rack is about $550-600.
MJ4x4 sell exact same product, flat rack , tent rack, full rack all $350.00.

Also ORU sell the same or similar products of Tigerz, so you could try them, they are in the retail section of this website.

If I had a $70,000 new Prado I'd go ARB, but I've got an old 2003 1kz, I don't want/cannot afford to spend more than the vehicles worth setting it up & accessories that's why I look for cheaper options.

The rise of 'cheap' internet shopping' brands like above and others is the reason the independents are going to the wall e.g
            http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...g+closing+sale
Although admittedly this guy did not sell top quality roof racks and winches etc.

OK ARB/TJM will source from China but I'm starting to feel for the small guys. Soon our high streets will be full of 'fast food' outlets with people running around in 'white vans' delivering stuff.

There has to be 'pay back' somewhere in life. You can't expect cheap stuff then expect 5 star service...it's not how the world works. They keep their staff numbers to a minimum, have no retail outlets and pay as little as possible (??). It's how their overheads are kept down?

For racks, you will not beat the quality of the Rhino brand. You can keep the rack once you buy one, and just change the feet for your new vehicle.
Same could be said for the Avenger or Warn winches. The Avenger Mako TDS 9.5 with rope, is pretty well the perfect winch for the Prado brand.

I'm the sort of guy who doesn't mind forking out top dollar for gear that is quality and built to last. I'm no cheapskate. I don't buy cheap tools as a rule (exception could be the IT2). The other week outside Bunnings a fella in a Patrool asked me how much I paid for my Tracklander roof rack. I told him how much it cost and he proceeded to chuckle towards his wife and told me his Tigerz rack cost less than $800, roughly a grand cheaper than my rack. I then said well, when you're halfway along the Tanami or CSR or whatever track and your bargain rack cracks in half just remember how much you saved when you bought the rack. There are reasons that some equipment is a half or a third of the cost of similar items.

drove to bris (lawnton) and bought the full length steel rack, whilst there mounting it a bloke in a patrol drove in with the same rack, bleeding rust from every inch of it, never been used, 3mths old, all bolts and fittings looked like they were at the bottom of the ocean for 10 years (not kiddin). "bad batch and now we have new suppliers" was the excuse given, checked his out and noticed it was different to mine, new supplier blah blah blah they told me, fitted mine up, painfull and left a lot of room for water to sit under there, fittings are crap, halfway between bris and sunshine coast I hear a steel tapping sound, in the hr it took me to get home, on the bruce highway without so much as a speed bump, over half the so called welds around the cage broke, rang straight away and drove back next day, tried to offer me a new 1, gave me the "bad batch" spiel, got my cash, and in the future, won,t so much as call into the brands shops to take a shit.

buyer beware, reckon some of you blokes with the roof racks should get up on your roof and have a looksee, ill bet dollars to doughnuts there will be rust galore at least, at worst the channels on ya prado will be gutted with rust, never again.

                    cheers

Fair points, I don't mind if theproducts are poorer quality, as you do get what you pay for, I expect it won't last as long, I except it might be more unreliable, but I'll probably sell my car before I have those problems, or I'll replace them and still be cheaper than them more expensive.
I don't think its hard to return a call or even an email ??
I was interested to see if anyone else here had experienced a similar problem.

Roof top tent rack $329 what a bargain. Ok they might forget to put a few bolts or washers in the box, no problem I can pick a few bits up from Bunnings, I will be popping in anyway. They might forget to drill a few holes, thats ok I'm a man and I have a drill. The paint might be a bit rough round the edges, that's alright I have a file and a tin of black spray paint in the shed and I'm not scared to use it.

What does an ARB roof top tent cost? $800, $1,000? thats a lot of money extra for them to finish a few little bits off. From what I have seen of ARB I reckon $200 of that is to have 20 ARB guys in the shop to be on hand if you feel like being patronised!

If I was really worried about the finish I could get it rubbed down and powder coated for $150 and still be well in front.

I really don't understand why people pay Tigerz prices and expect ARB quality and service.

I'd say if you are a mans man and like fixing stuff up, banging around in the garage and want value for money go for Tigerz.

If you are the kind of person that wants a nice man in a shop to fit it for you or if you are going to fit it yourself and want to take it out of the box and for it to be perfect and if it's not 100% you want to be able to phone someone that gives a rats go ARB.

That being said, would I buy a Tigerz winch, an important electrical accessory that needs to be reliable and could one day be the difference between getting out or staying stuck? PMSL Not a chance in hell!

Ok get your point. But, what about service? at least ARB etc have national coverage and their service in my experience over many years of outback traveling they have been outstanding. No mate, i will pay the extra bucks and get a quality product and national service.....Tigerz stuff is crap.....Too many posts on here to doubt that, and also their service record is crap also too many post on here to support it.........AH.....that feels better......lol.

Funny, I was made to feel put down when I walked into my local ARB. The arrogant attitude of the dealer, his assumption I knew nothing about 4x4 just because I live in an inner city suburb, was instant and obvious. Yes I know, he is used to dealing with city boys and their City W/E trucks (all the power and trick bits), but you should never assume. (I grew up on a farm welding and fixing farm engines and machinery, have raced 4x4s and bikes and owned 4x4s for 32 years, I'm a knowledgeable and more practical type of guy).

Service starts when I walk in the door and first impressions are very important, because you pay more does not guarantee you will have good service before OR after a sale!

Really? I reckon I am as good as fixing things as most people, I have a really big shed, more man toys to fix stuff with than most people can dream about. I have to totally disagree with everything you have said. Roof racks, roof top tents, bullbars are all things that you use every single day when travelling in the bush, why would you buy stuff you know is sub standard when you need them everyday just to save a few bob?

On the other hand the only piece of TigerZ kit I have bought is their winch, I got it before their prices dropped to ridiculous levels so maybe their quality has taken a similar plunge. I've probably had the winch for 2 years, used it 5 times, only once to recover myself and I had other options if I didn't have the winch. Its been good and on one occasion another PP member had his Warn Winch fail recovering himself on the same hill. I did buy the Winch after a good report from a PP member who has one, a member who I have the utmost respect for his opinions.

Would I buy a TigerZ product I use everyday such as a rusty roof rack, bullbar, roof top tent............ No way!
