The minister for finance has had an evakool for about 6 years, it has been through some seriously NASTY NASTY stuff and still goes.
I like my engel more, but the minister drives a dodge and I have a pradie- horses for courses!

They are supposed to be one of the best.
        Best fridge not best brand.

They ARE the best. Get fibreglass.

5 Year warranty on motor and workmanship... not too shabby! I own the 60L and I couldn't be happier. I researched all the top units to death.. spent hours and hours trolling through forums, reading reviews, etc, etc. Evakool was the consistent performer in all areas. Plus it's Aussie owned and made

That's a big fridge, make sure it will fit.

My local TJM store sells the EvaKool brand and says they are good.

Why fibreglass? Do they run cooler?

The fibreglass ones are their top of the line eskies that keep ice for a week or more. They then whack the compressor on the outside of it. This means the heat from the compressor goes away from the fridge, and because their is such good insulation, the compressor doesnt have to work as hard to keep stuff cold. They're a very very good fridge.

But they're huge! My old mans got an 80L one, and it takes 2 of us to lift the damn thing.

This one looks good. At 860mm in length, it will be tight but I think will fit. I can wait until its on special.

I have an Eva Cool 47 L and it is excellent. Yes it is a bit bigger than the others but the insulation properties are tops. On eco mode it only draws 1.8 to 2 amps.
Got mine off Gumtree $1250 fridge for $750. Could not be happier.

I saw that too but it's the same price as the 80L at BCF so not as good value I guess.

I've got a 55l yellow one. Basic and simple but does the job I ask of it and does it well. Plus it can take a few knocks and doesn't need an insulating blanket. My only bug near is there is no set and forget temperature just a dial. I e got a remote thermometer but I find myself paranoicaly checking the temp lots. But I've never had to move it off setting 1

The minister keeps it on temp setting number 2, anything colder and stuff will freeze.
Its mainly used it as a fridge, but also as a freezer when going away, we fill it choc a block with our lamb - it's all good.
The divider for the fridge/freezer bit is in the garage somewhere, but I can't remember the last time it was used as a fridge and freezer at the same time.
