Obtaining Toyota serive records ?

Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone has gone through Toyota and had their service records printed out ?

Is there anyone one here who would be able to do that for me or do I just simply go to a Toyota dealer ?

Just trying to found out exactly what has been done to my new 2nd hand 120 series whether it has had certain things changed out, any recalls completed and valve clearance records.

Thought someone may have gone through the same process at some stage.

I looked up the dealer who had stamped the service book on my 2nd hand Prado and sent them an email asking if they could send me the service records, and was astonished when they actually did! Prices and everything for the past 3 years. Was very educational as it was previously a fleet vehicle and prices seemed very cheap compared to what my local Toyota dealer was trying to screw me for.

I didn't even have a rego number, just the VIN as the vehicle had come from NSW to a dealer in Vic unregistered

You should be able to get the warranty history from any dealer

I know a toyota service center manager and apparently toyota themselves are quite guarded. The dealer may give out info on what they have done but the head office info is often secret from the dealers. Example is my car. I bought it 6 or so months ago now with 55,000 klm. Checks proved no klm, theft or crash problems and it had log books but you still have a grain of suspicion when handing over big cash. I got the last toyota service record but when it went in for some warranty stuff. My friend told me they don't know if its accepted until after lodgement. If she has been abused or klms wound back. You may not find out until toyota head office reply with the bad news. ( mine was fine)
It's crazy and not all brands are the same. Seem toyota like to keep some things to themselves.

I spoke to the Toyota service centre who had been servicing the vehicle and they wouldn't even release details if the vehicle had been in and had any recall items completed. Pretty lame really.
Now need to get written approval from the previous owner to obtain any records.
Its out of warranty so I don't know why they would even care.
Anyway, now to type up a nice letter or just call back on a different day.....

I didn't have any issues getting the previous service reports for my Kakadu. I think they were happy when I handed over 10 years worth for the 95 series I traded in as I don't think they have them that far back.

I rang City Toyota and they were helpful.
Even told me about the outstanding bullbar recall and sorted it for me!
