Just asked a mate of mine what he sells the 8750 for... 999 reduced from 1149.

Personally, I am holding out to see if Kenwood persist with the 200mm wide Toyota units and release one that has Android Auto, when/if they do this I am throwing money at them! Unfortunately I don't expect to see anything until the 2nd gen units (2016?) given that the software still isn't officially released by Google (should be october/november).

Until they do I will stick with my Nexus 7 dash mod.

But the biggest difference is that air mirror will allow complete access to your entire phone. Airplay locks you out of some features.

2, only your first born. Most places will offer fairly good discounts if you push for it. Which unit are you looking at? If you're looking at an avic unit with apple car play then you might be able to save a few con by buying the previous model... the F60 or F960. Virtually same unit but no Android Auto. That was introduced in the F70 and F970.

If non gps... the avh 8650bt has apple carplay but you need the 8750bt for android auto.
Probably the 8750 or even 8650. I want the steering controls to work so the add on will be needed, 2 cameras as the current one is out etc. Not sure I need the 970 as I can use the ipad to provide the latest google maps and hema maps on the screen I assume?

I know people at the Kenwood/JVC headoffice in Sydney. Rumour is... you won't be waiting long. Android Auto (which was officially released back in March) will be common place across their top of the line headunits. Plus the 200mm Toyota units have become reasonable sellers. Much better than the VW version. Alpine trialled the VW unit also... failed miserably.

Both the 8750 and the 8650 no longer require an adaptor to retain steering wheel controls. They give you the ability to modify a 3.5mm stereo jack and program the buttons manually.

As for CarPlay and GPS... you will definetly get the latest Apple Maps but as for Google and HEMA, I'm unsure. But at the minimum, you will at least be able to mirror your display to show those maps, you'll just need to program the app via the phone.

            Hi RanJ

I'm waiting on a unit that does topo maps and android auto - I understand clarion do hema or topo maps? Any idea when they plan on releasing android auto?

That'd be my goal, topo + google maps.

Hi RanJ, I've been looking at the Pioneer site after your recommendation.

What's the difference between the AVH-X8750BT and the AVIC-F70DAB.
Is it just the inbuilt gps, and (apparently?) the AVH-X8750BT has a resistive screen and the AVIC-F70DAB has a capacitive screen.

The Pioneer site is not geared for doing side by side comparisons of products in different areas on their site.

I didn't think it was official until Android M? Either way, it doesn't change the fact I am eagerly waiting for a Toyota fit version and will most likely buy the first one they release.....

It was made official with Android L.

The F70 does have the capacitive screen and when try the resistive screen of the 8750 you think... thats pretty damn awesome how much better could it get? That was my thought until I tried the F70 and holy hell it was awesome.

Inbuilt nav is the biggest difference and to the average user... the only difference. Next common feature you gain with the F70 is digital radio. Hopeless in anything that resembles rural area but if you enjoy AM talk back radio and live in urban areas then you can appreciate the CD quality sound coming from your old ABC AM lol.
