There are many different types out there most of them pertaining to social websites. Since I'm flat out today, I've emailed the owner of another I used to moderate to find out a web page to it. When he gets a chance to respond, I'll let you know.

Here is a thread with in action.. http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/...ml#post2531953

        #### and I have exchanged pm's and discussed.

In regards to his points, there was a lot of padding being thrown around by some current and ex members, that don't need to be named. This was not fair to all members, as it showed very unrealistic rep levels on people that hadn't genuinely earnt them.

Upon sorting out the points to be accurate and realistic, I hadn't clicked onAnth's total calculations, hence a somewhat lower score than it was meant to be.. Eg, he had in fact just over 700 points, ( added up again by calculator tonight to confirm) but his score was still sitting at 322..
My bad it seems, but going thru dozens of points recipients, some mistakes I guess are going to be made. " I'm only bovine"..
All is corrected now, and sorted,, fido I think yours was exactly the same, and yours is a truer rep now too.

At the end of the day if giving rep, ask yourself: " would I expect a pat on the back for what I'm scoring if I had

Not, old mate cracked a funny, or belittled someone on the forum ( cyber bullying etc) and they get positive rep points in return by their mates..

As #### said,I think this one has again played itself out.. Move forward ppl..

If anyone else notices anomalies or it appears they have miscalculated points, pm me and I can check logs to confirm..

Heyyyy... Thats me and thats exactly how i understand Rep Points to work.

Well thankyou for acknowledging you aren't perfect, nobody is after all. I do have to correct you on one thing though Piggy. bovines are cattle :-)

            bo·vine (bvn, -vn)
            adj.
            1. Of, relating to, or resembling a ruminant mammal of the genus Bos, such as an ox, cow, or buffalo.
            2. Sluggish, dull, and stolid.
            n.
An animal of the genus Bos.
[Late Latin bovnus, from Latin bs, bov-, cow; see gwou- in Indo-European roots.]

Piggys come from the swine family (not being nasty, it's a factual statement).

            swine (swn)
            n. pl. swine
            1. Any of various omnivorous, even-toed ungulates of the family Suidae, including pigs, hogs, and boars, having a stout body with thick skin, a short neck, and a movable snout.
            2. A person regarded as brutish or contemptible.
[Middle English, from Old English swn; see s- in Indo-European roots.]

Don't shoot the messenger, just clearing up any confusion.

Yes I noticed that so thanks again for sorting it out.

Okay I have a random dumb question. If it is a two tiered system why don't the red points show as a second line?

Also is there a way the user can review all there rep points and all the related info attached to them?

                  SOL.

Can't help you on the 1st question sorry but for this one you can go into Settings at the top of the PP window and review the most recent points and which posts they've been applied to. It only goes back so far though, it's not a complete listing from the time you joined. Perhaps one of the mods can confirm how far back it goes.

The coloured squares represent your total points which is the combination of positive and negative points.

Rules and procedures should be reserved for the workplace where safety takes priority over a persons upbringing, education, and training essentially replacing that persons need to use the life skill called 'common sense'.

Real world, common sense is an essential day to day requirement, where rules are minimal or no existent this skill provides direction and allows freedom of movement within perceived boundaries.

Surely we as grown men and women to not need yet another world where everything is written in black and white, consisting of clear and unambiguous phases directing action and expectation?

a reputation system for a forum would therefore reflect the informative nature of a post to thread title in addressing the concerns or questions initially raised.

a simple concept, easily abused for personal gain and self propagation of a perceived status amongst ones peers.

so the question remains, do we men and women really need more rules? Or do we have the ability to self regulate our own actions?

I am seeing a lot of new accounts created with 1 post as soon as the account is created asking a random question. I am wondering if these are 'shadow' accounts being created to potentially abuse the reputation system...

With only one post you can't give or take points, I am not sure what the post level is where points are added or taken but with a low post count and a new member it won't make much difference.

I got a positive comment the other day, but no points as it was obviously from a low post member.

                                Cheers Andrew
