My brother in law has just upgraded to a 100 series and has his 2001 Jackaroo for sale. It is a 3.5lt V6 manual with TJM steel bullbar, towbar, Dobinson suspension 40mm lift, cargo barrier, sidesteps, Pirelli Scorpion AT tyres (60% tread), driving lights, tinted windows. Odometer 112,000 kms. He has had the car since new and is looking for $13K.

PM me if you are interested.

    Cheers - Byrnsie

That doesn't sound too bad. Just want to elaborate a little. IMO Toyotas are better. A new 80 series over a new GQ every day. A new 100 series over a GU any day. But when it comes to budget shopping it becomes hard. Its pretty obvious the general opinion is diesel Toyotas are the ducks nuts so by the time they are worth $20k they are quite second hand where as an equivelant Nissan or other will still be well used they aren't all knackered. Again, just my opinion on a public forum, feel free to ignore it!

well I still haven't had the chat with the boss yet....hopefully tomorrow, then I'll know either way if i"m in the 2nd car market or not!

Mick's car does look great, well set up etc.

i think Toyota's have the advantage of being easier (and cheaper) to fix or get parts for when in more remote areas too? could be a key consideration if that's the case.

I'd have a guess and say that most 4wd around the 20G mark have probably seen their day. In reality your 20G vehicle will almost certainly end up costing you more money in repairs if you are going to stick some serious kms on it in fairly remote areas.

Another option: In the last few years there seems to be more europeans in Outback Aust than australian tourist. Most of these guys long term hire vehicles for months on end. Have you had a look at hiring one for 6 months ?

This is a list of probably the better known companies. You will get a very goog price per day if you hire for over 6 weeks. A couple of motoring clubs like the nrma (whatever its called in your state) some times offer good deals on hire vehicles.
