  • Problems logging in

On attempting to login to PP this afternoon I was greeted with the error message advising I had too many incorrect login attempts and to try again in 15 minutes. After waiting for more than 15 minutes I tried logging in again and still got the error. Eventually I received an email from PP advising that :-

    Dear fido666,

Someone has tried to log into your account on PradoPoint - Toyota Prado 4x4 Landcruiser Forum with an incorrect password at least 5 times. This person has been prevented from attempting to login to your account for the next 15 minutes.

The person trying to log into your account had the following IP address: 108.162.249.118

    All the best,
PradoPoint - Toyota Prado 4x4 Landcruiser Forum
I hadn't logged into the site at all today prior to receiving the error message so I know it wasn't me. A MyIP search traces the IP back to Cloudflare which I am aware is a service used by the PP site to serve webpage requests. Is it Cloudflare making these login attempts to test accounts or is it someone/something external?

Apologies for raising another thread but the related ones I could find in my searches were not recent.

This should be reported to admins via pm, no need for a thread on it as general members will not be able to help with he behind the scenes work.

This was also discussed only a couple of weeks ago.

I've PM'd twice still waiting for a response to my issue which is similar. I cannot log in via the log in icon at the top of the page. I put my user name in and then come across to the password which appears exactly as I type the letters instead of showing dots. It refers me to the log in error page and informs me I have used X amount of attempts. Doesn't matter what computer I use. What I do now is simply click log in without entering anything and then log in using the error page.

Well, remove foot from mouth. Just tried to log in the normal way and low and behold it worked fine for the first time in about 3 weeks. Call off the cavalry.

Piggy, I asked on the forum as I don't know which admins/mods are around. As I mentioned, the threads I could find were not that recent. Another reason for asking here is to find out if others are having the same issue. I don't see what harm asking the question here has caused but if it's a problem feel free to close the thread or delete it.

I have also been having the same issue as Bushbasher for quite some time, have raised it before and it's never been resolved.

Bushie, you will find it may work OK a few times and then have problems again. Not sure which browser you are using, perhaps try another one. I use Firefox and have the issue every few login attempts but that is a separate issue to the one I reported in the 1st post. Just trying to help :-)

Problem back. Even deleted all web browser bookmarks for PP, searched again, couldn't log in. Error message again.

No! The left front (Dunlop Road Gripper skinny on split rim) tyre deflated and he lost control.

Have you tried another browser? Last time I had this issue it worked OK in Internet Explorer, haven't tried this time but the issue is back for me too.

Yes, Mozilla Firefox, Google, Google Chrome and another one. Doesn't want to play.

Interesting, can't think what the issue is then, I just assumed it was a Firefox issue. Do you use any Internet Security products? I do and thought that might be part of the problem but even with that running I had no login issues for a while. The problem came back recently despite nothing being changed here.

The admin gurus are looking into it.

I'm on another forum that uses vBulletin and Cloudscape and some users are having issues as well.

It's not that uncommon and can be quite a frustrating bug but Cloudscape is such a worthwhile service for us to have that it's worth putting up with the annoyance. fido666, I recall some users had found a way around by actually changing their password altogether. Apparently this cycle may have triggered another event in the vBulletin software that stopped the problem. I don't how, what, who or why or if it will even help you but perhaps worth a try?

Bushbasher, I'm in the same boat, when I do my usual weekly clear of the cookies I don't even bother typing in the username password, just click ok, wait for the error screen and away I go.

Looking at yours bush basher but can't see anything out of ordinary. Try a password change to see if it helps.

Thanks RanJ, I've tried resetting the password and closing my browser then re-opening it but I still have the problem.
