Stihl are having a sale this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The MS170 Mini Boss chainsaw is $299 again and comes with a free toy chain saw. No plastic case from what I can tell, at least the email I got doesn't mention it.

I have no connection with Stihl other than I own an MS170 and I know they are popular with 4WDers.

Funny, last time they had a sale they couldn't deliver on any of the sale advertised chainsaws here. I had to settle for an old stock but new model lesser than the one I really wanted. But that's what we have to put up with out here in the west.

That's the thing, they had none available in Australia. Even though I had submitted an order I couldn't get what I wanted. The local dealer was ringing around Brisbane, Newcastle, etc and all were pre-sold. I ended up getting a smaller chainsaw but they threw in the orange transport box for stuffing me around.

It's a shame you couldn't get exactly what you wanted but at least they threw in a freebie. That case is huge isn't it?

It pretty handy as I can chuck it on the roof rack and tie it down. It is also big enough to hold chain oil, gloves, chain sharpener, 2 stroke oil, rags, etc. I really wanted a Stihl chainsaw with the tungsten chain. But am pretty happy with the current unit as it's pretty handy for camping.
