  • Price for 2.6kw split system A/C install?

    Hi
Can anyone tell me what an average price to install a small 2.6kw split system Air conditioner would be in Brisbane.
Already pre wired to the unit, so just the install / piping and gas

    Cheers
    Robert

    Hi Robert

I had a larger unit plumbed and gassed for $300 some time ago so if they're quoting any higher I'd make a few more calls.

    Grant.

Gas comes with the unit... So your paying for install only, they just vaccume the pipes and release the gas.

        Hi Rob,

I'd say for a cash price it would be under $300. PM me if you need a good, well priced sparky in brissy.

Not sure about the legalities in Qld but im sure the person doing the install(evacuation) needs to be accredited if you want warranty.

Rang around a few places, obviously the pricing has gone up
Slab and wiring already down, so just install the head unit, run 7 feet of pipe and connect up pipe and electrics .
Quotes so far all over $600...

We just had a friend do our 3.5kw system for $1350 cash (obviously including the unit). Not sure what the unit was worth, but it's a new model Samsung.

Most around here In Sydney from what I've heard is around the $500 to $700 for a back to back split system. Cost me $330 in 1998 and that was me helping him as his apprentice was at teck.....Cheers Steve

I did most of the install for 2 split systems at home (one 3.5kW, the other 5kW) and got an AC specialist to connect the copper pipes and cables, and evacuate the systems. He charged $670 in total. It would have been a lot less if I didn't have to pay for 2kg of refrigerant gas at $160/kg, ouch.
