  • Mickey Thompson ATZ P3 Review

I just thought I'd start this thread since these tyres are very new and a lot of people are looking for feedback on on.

    I just got my fitted today in 265/70/17 on a D4D 150.

Road Noise: Coming from BGF A/T's, I cant say there is any noticeable difference.

On Road Handling (DRY): As you would expect from any tyre, they so far seem to perform perfectly in the dry. If anything the steering feels noticeably sharper since fitting these (I actually checked if the shop had changed the adjustment on the front shocks the steering felt so different, but they hadnt).

On Road Handling (WET): N/a - no wet weather driving yet

Off Road Handling: N/a - havent been offroad yet.

Ill try and update this thread once i get a few more KM's on them in different conditions. So far im happy though.

Good looking tyres. Hopefully they perform as good, if not better than the 4Rib's.

This will be a good one to follow, although I like our Cooper AT3's, I am tempted by these new Mickeys so it will be good to know how they go in the real world.

I picked up 4 of the superseded ATZ 4 ribs this morning (265 70 17) for $1260 - fitted, balanced, including wheel alignment - that's $315 each. When I wear these out I'll probably be going for the new P3's.

All I can say is MT is a great brand
2 Simpson trips on my set of 4 ribs and still going strong.

While everyone else was shredding side walls on my last trip my MT's just kept going.
Got home and a wheel alignment and balance, good to go

Are these quieter than the 4 ribs? The reason I ask is I had the 4 ribs on my pajero and they were awesome tyres but everyone would ask if there was any oil in my diffs when they got in the car the first time, they were that noisy. I now have BFG muddies on the prado and they are quite a lot quieter (windows down, for all those about to jump in and tell me about the pajeros crapppy NVH).

I thought the noise was the only downfall of the 4 rib. The mrs will tell you they didnt handle well on dirt roads after she rolled the Paj but between you and me it was driver error. If the P3's have improved in road noise then I would definitely have to consider them for my next set.
