  • A taxi did battle with my Prado....

    and lost.

Not much damage on appearance but the repairers said the rear bumper has to be replaced. The taxi is pretty stuffed.

Taxi has a hole in the radiator, bonnet was smashed and pushed back because he went under my truck, you can see the rubber marks from the spare on his bonnet. The frame around his radiator was pushed back toward the motor, the front quarter panels bowed out, wheel wells hanging down, bumper was ripped hanging by a corner when he backed out since it was hung on the tow bar.

All this happened with my truck parked in front of my house! Not moving!
The taxi was dropping a neighbor off and was pointing down hill about two meters behind my truck. He meant to go in reverse, punched it but was in drive and bam I had a taxi under my truck!

Should get the mounts for the spare checked too, making sure the rear door wasn't damaged at all. (those hinges aren't the best either)

Also have the entire exhaust system checked. Even if the rear of the exhaust looks fine, sometimes the forces are sent to the engine bay causing damage there.

yeah a bit concerned there, could have placed a large load and meet at one point along the way.

It happened to my parents old 4.2 TD Landcruiser. Coming over a blind crest on a highway we had to come to a very sudden and complete stop from 100km/h. Both cars behind us didn't stop quick enough and wrote their vehicles off against the back of the cruiser. The cruiser seemed to have no damage at all, so we went on our way without any concern. Luckily their insurances tried to put the blame on the cruiser, because it was only by going through the process that the exhaust header/turbo issues were found.

Actually, only a few weeks ago a car decided to move into my lane without noticing me. Silly guy dented his rear panels of his hatch - whilst only leaving paint on my bull bar and tyre. Gotta love that.

I have had two Prados with three collision repairs since 2010 and in each instance my Prado was PARKED. What the hell?

I my 120 was in a Woolies car park down a hill (Strathfield). A lady with a fully loaded trolley let go, it rolled down the hill with great momentum and slammed into the side from the trolley handle bar side. Hit so hard it rode halfway up the door.

This Prado 2 weeks after the bullbar was put on a lady at work hit the corner of the bullbar. Just marred the paint but she did not stop when she fist touched it....she panicked and kept going. The paint actually melted on the bar from the friction. About $800 for the Bullbar respray etc.....$9k for hers.

Very safe in the bush, not so safe parked in Sydney.

So your Prado was parked and the taxi driver chose f'rod instead 'ay back'erds?

Did he try to deny it was his fault and blame you?

Thats been my experience involving misadventures with taxi drivers, regardless of the evidence and witnesses to the contrary.
