  • Cheap Fridges on ebay

hey all, recently got a cheap 55l fridge on eBay it works awesome (12/24 & 240 compressor based), just need to run it about 5-6 degrees colder than the good fridges to keep stuff nice and cold, it was working well in the car and on 240v for a few days then on 240v it stopped working i had no idea why, but the cheap nasty power supply was very hot and warped the plastic casing for the psu.

I opened it up and the thingy s connected to the heat-sinks were overheating (very obvious signs on circuit board) and could of caught on fire if left i think, if buying one get your own supply like this one and hard-wire it in or make it an external one http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/130590005508

Why risk everything by buying cheap shite on ebay? That could have been in your Prado and caught fire. Now you got to buy another fridge. Not so cheap eh?

bought a cheap fridge from ebay with free 240 v adapter . been using it on 240 v & 12v for 4 years now and not a problem, Used the 240 v adapter for lots of things with no issues. You cant paint with such a broad brush just became you had 1 bad experience! Saying that be careful buying cheap from ebay !!! do Some research first. Only really you to blame if you don't .

Read the negative reviews, didnt want to get let down.
Reduced chances of let down & bought engel.
If your staying local & can deal with a fridge, breaking down, it might be worth a risk?
But if it might ruin a trip? Maybe not.

Or you can miss out altogether because you just spent a" your money on an overpriced fridge like a waeco or Engel but seriously cheap doesnt always mean bad and expensive doesn't always mean good quality. look around do some research and ask qu' s?

Just purchased a Waeco CFX-50 on the weekend.

                $1299 list price
                $1039 at Down Under Camping

Went into Anaconda with a print out for them to beat it by 10% as per their advertising.

Got the Waeco for $935 - very happy!
Here for a good time, not a long time!

Cheap electrical goods on ebay are a terrible idea. I learnt from my old laptop charger!
