  • Toyota Prado Recall Notices.

    Hi All,

I was just perusing the recall notices tonight and noticed that there have been a few for the Prado.

Most are now closed but I guess if you have bought a Prado secondhand you may want to know if the recall has been done on your ride.

One of the recalls is still in the active state which means that there are Prados that still require the work to be done.

Problem: Front lower ball joint scratched
    Make: Toyota
    Model: Landcruiser Prado
    Variant:
    Date Range: 22 May 2001 - 7 August 2002

    Status: Inactive
Defect: Lower ball joints where the ball surface may have been scratched may experience excessive wear.
Consequences: Once the ball joint has worn the steering may become heavy and in extreme cases can fail causing separation of the suspension components.
Corrective action: Toyota dealers will fit improved replacement ball joints.
    Notif. Date: 17/05/2005
    DOTARS No.: R05/066
    Supplier Name: TOYOTA
