  • Big Thanks to ARB Wangara

A couple of days ago I went to ARB Wangara so they could have a look at my arb fridge because I had trouble getting down to -18.
I took it in, they tested it and it worked flawlessly. So they came out side and checked my dual battery sockets and found out I was getting too much voltage drop. They checked my wiring and discovered that TJM had wired the earth from the rear sockets all the way back to the battery, and thats why I was getting so much voltage drop.
I took it back ARB the next day so they could re wire the earth to a point much closer to the rear sockets. They fitted me inbetween their other jobs. They said it was going to be a 20min job but they ended up spending over an hour on it because they ended up soldering all the joins that had not been soldered by TJM in the first place and they also replaced the fuse holder for a better quality one, because the one TJM put in was cheap and has been known to fail.

So after an hour the Prado is ready, I go to pay and they say na dont worry! You're all good!

My mind was blown! They spent an hour of their time fixing up poor work from another 4wd shop, when the only money I've spent with ARB was on the fridge and they didn't even charge me!

I spent nearly $7,000 with TJM on what I thought was top notch work and equipment and it was a nightmare from the beginning.
They scratched my new Prado in several places.
They somehow lost my park light bulb
After all the work was done originally it took 4 trips back to the shop, 45mins drive each way. And a half day without the car each time, to get the suspension set up properly because their droop measurments were wrong, and put in the wrong spacers.
they basically doubled the length of my dual battery wiring by earthing back to the battery causing voltage drop.
Didn't solder the dual battery wiring.

I should have gone ARB, but I liked the tjm bull bar and snorkel. I knew ARB had a good reputation for their work and warranty but figured TJM has a good reputation in the eastern states for their work, so I should be ok.
It seems to me TJM in Perth doesn't have the knowledge or experience/skill that the eastern state shops have.

So thats a big thumbs up from me to ARB Wangara.
Without doubt that is where my business will go from now on.
TJM can go jump with their cheap and dodgy work.

    Thanks ARB Wangara

That's good to hear. Too often these days all you hear about are the bad stories. When will companies realise that in this day and age of technology, bad sales and service is going to be spread around to millions almost instantly.
It's now up to all those in Perth who are able to, to support a business like this that is willing to go above and beyond.

Time well spent for ARB in reality. They just got the sort of advertising nationwide they couldn't buy

Good on ARB. The only BS is that running the earth back to battery shouldn't do that to the voltage. I run a full length earth as others do with no probs. it's more likely to be the dodgy soldering or fuse holder that that fixed the issue. Worked out for you in the end though!

Depends on the size of the wire run back for the Earth, if it was undersized that could be the cause, also could have been a dodgy connection in that run.

Main thing is that you have a nice cold fridge and ARB went above and beyond to help you out.

          Cheers Andrew

Yes I was only going off what they told me was the problem, I'm really not electrically gifted.
All I know is its running much more efficiently now and ARB are good people.

Tested out the fridge straight after and I was sitting at -18 after about an hour. Left it running while I was at work and it was at -19 when I finished.
Before when I did that the coldest it got was -15, so the fridge motor was running the entire night and my battery was almost flat.

Fantastic job. They deserve a bloody medal. Now I have another reason to continue to support them at every opportunity. I just hope the wife accepts this excuse when I spend more money there. You know: "Darling, I HAVE TOO, I need to balance the Karma of the world, the deserve my money"

Great effort and kudos to them.

Don't mean to correct you Sam, but it was SuperDavid who posted the feedback, not Gramps.

Gramps did nothing but support SuperDavid by writing a 2 second post and deserves no kudos...

                  Only kidding Gramps :-)

They've earned one more customer in the future.
Do "ARB" stickers come at cost in Australia? i have one of the fleet trucks fitted with bars and shocks, I asked for stickers, they gave me but i realized each cost equal to 8 dollars when i got the bill... which of course is not a good thing for me when i hand it over to finance witches...
