When traveling with my "new" Prado 90 at speeds higher than 100 km/h a vibration starts to make itself felt. At 120 km/h (75 m/h) it is quite worrying. When I lift my foot from the accelerator, it is more clearly felt than under acceleration. As speed rises it becomes less severe and at 160 km/h (100 m/h) it is almost gone. It is not a high frequency vibration (more like brrrrr than zzzzzz) that is not felt only in the steering wheel, but in fact more through the car's body. SWAMBO sitting next to me also felt it. Could it be the propshaft? There is about 3 - 5 deg of play if one turns the propshaft by hand. Car standing still, of course.
The play I spoke of is at the output from the transfer case and the input to the rear diff, does that mean anything? No play to be felt or seen at the rear shaft's u-joints, but at the front of the t/f box there's an oil leak and a little lateral play, more felt than seen. Almost no circular play and none in the u-joints.
